Pros

Joined Affirm in December 2019. Based on their funding, age, and general position in the market, I figured it was a late stage, established company. And while it certainly is, the hunger for growth and innovation, as well as empowerment you feel as an employee to take an idea and run with it, has impressed me. Great experience so far, and I have no reason to expect anything to change.

Cons

The alternative payments space is competitive and subject to frequently evolving regulations, and the path forward continues to change every day

Lack of transparency and hypocritical

Pros

- nice office - some very cool people to befriend - competitive salary and decent perks, ex. Equinox - can be fun and fast-paced

Cons

- politicking within teams and between teams - some people feel like diversity hires - little transparency - people seem to not generally love the product; some seem to actually dislike it - middle managers have no/little empathy and are prone to micromanaging - promises of empathy and support without providing resources - unrealistic expectations for performance, and lack of recognition when you try to meet them - food is bland

Pros

Affirm hires the smartest people. Team members are always willing to lend support and wear multiple hats. Cross functional collaboration/communication is seamless. Respectful discourse is welcome and appreciated by leadership. Compensation in our region is very generous and competitive in our industry. The office I work in is a center of excellence for our customer facing department - alike work done in other industries does not compensate agents as well as Affirm. The leadership team comes from diverse customer contact center experience - this diversity allows us to take best practices from other companies to create something unique. My team has great leadership - my manager always has my back and allows me to be autonomous in my work - though she is always willing to provide guidance and advice. I trust her implicitly. The benefits and perks far exceed any other company in Pittsburgh.

Cons

I wish there was more time in the day to index on all of the initiatives and passion projects that I can support in. A better integration/consolidation of tools would allow our agents to more effectively service our customers.
