Pros

If you need a job it's a job

Cons

Management appears to have zero experience in running a large business unit. They lack vision and initiative to take the business to the next level. If you not part of the in crowd you will flounder and be micro-managed to the nth degree. If you are in you can be as inexperienced as a box of rocks and still get praise and promotions. The technology is out-dated and old, although they are trying to implement the next generation products for their main product set, but this has gone horribly wrong and will take years to fix. They are going to dump next gen technology on an aging workforce with zero training and expect them to keep up, this is a recipe for disaster. Stay away unless you like backstabbing, no raises, layoffs, cutbacks, crappy technology, no vision, and best of all like to have your ideas ignored and stay in the same position with no growth for years on end! I would also say that the company is a takeover target

Pros

* Some teams have wonderful management. * Flexible options for working remotely when needed * Decent benefits, especially considering the local economy * Stable and profitable employer with minimal layoffs through the recession in Las Vegas * New generations of software finally catching up to current technology (the hospitality industry is never "cutting edge")

Cons

* No upward mobility, especially if you are not already "in" with that manager * No sense of community unless you came in with the original IAD team * Annual pay raises generally not linked to performance reviews (when we get raises) * No communication or idea-sharing between applications, teams, or departments * Minimal training for entry-level Ops staff, and there does not appear to be any incentive to become knowledgeable about the products * No incentive, encouragement, or support to improve processes * No local HR support of any kind

No direction, too many silos.

Pros

Base salary was competitive. Benefits were good. Had a lot of freedom and independence...no micro management. Good group of co-workers.

Cons

No interaction with other divisions to work as a team. Too many silos. Operations group was poorly trained and lacked urgency. IBM division had too many good old boys at the executive level. Poor management and communication. Kept poor performers and laid off ones that were generating revenue. No support from management.
