Pros

Clean and comfortable rooms. Nice amenities in the camp (e.g. gym, gymnasium). Great food at the cafeteria.

Cons

Shared bathrooms (8) for multiple rooms (30+) and hot water consistency. Limited access to multiple social media platforms (e.g. YouTube).

French Boys Club in Nunavut

Pros

Excellent coworkers in some of the nicest mining sites you'll come across. Working here really does feel easy with the teams in place.

Cons

If you are looking for opportunities for advancement as a young professional this is not the place to do so. Very predatory HR practices and managers only promote white french men, they say that the northern sites are english speaking but don't let this fool you. You are signing up to work in Quebec. Many local Inuit are hurt and bothered by this as it is sometimes impossible to communicate with Agnico personnel.

Pros

Salary, Food, Benefits, Nunavut experience, Gym, fly-in, most people. I enjoyed the experience of working with Nunavut people and made many friends across Quebec and the rest of Canada.

Cons

Regulations not important, favoritism and insider hiring. I was framed by management for a false diesel leak spill shortly the mining inspectors arrived on-site. The company will take the cheapest route from what I seen, even if that includes not following reulations or employing the proper trades tickets. Saw high ranking senior management at the mine engage in sexist behavior. Not a place I'd be sending my daughter for a co-op placement. The company always will say the right thing but not necessarily do it. There is a big disconnect between Toronto and the reality in Nunavut.
