It's not going to be your dream job

Pros

If you're considering taking a job at Alcami, you should know that they're going to try to drain you for everything you're worth. Expect long hours, poor leadership, and empty promises. But knowledge is power - before deciding on the job, weigh what matters to you. Is it money and experience? This place will pay you big money and since they struggle to retain experienced and qualified employees, you're likely to have the opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility and get a serious resume boost. It might be worth a year or two of pain and suffering, but it really depends on your own personal situation. If you've already gotten to a good place in your career or you can't afford to disrupt your personal life, then don't even consider this purgatory. Besides the money and experience, you'll probably make some good friends at Alcami. There are some hardworking employees, and you'd be surprised at how much a common struggle unifies people.

Cons

Alcami makes some very important and lifesaving medicine; however, leadership often tries to cut corners. Be prepared to raise concerns over SISPQ and have to fight to have your voice heard. Be prepared to be labeled insubordinate when you aim to protect your clients and their patients. Work here for a year or two and watch the cycle repeat itself: new employees come through the door with their morals and ideals and are chewed up and spit out in a few short months, making bad decisions and justifying why they really don't even care. When your integrity starts to crack, it's time to turn in your badge and move on.

Slow dancing in a burning room

Pros

The people in the trenches that work their tails off every day are amazing, brilliant, and hardworking folks. It was a true honor to be able to call them my colleagues.

Cons

Alcami conducts its daily business internally with fear based motivation and aggressive management tactics that would be considered bullying in most circles. There is a massive lack of knowledgeable and skilled leadership from the executive level all the way down to middle management. It’s more than clear that not a single one of these Executives/Directors/Managers have ever taken a Responsible Management course (And if they have, they must have spent their time playing Candy Crush on their phones).

Better think twice

Pros

There is an operating facility. There are clients so the salaries get paid. Leftover food from executive lunches. There are some talented people. The possibility of things getting better.

Cons

They never have enough people, work salaried employees 10 hrs/day plus weekends, run the skeleton crews into the ground. Retention is a huge problem. Some of mgmt are bullies. They paint a rosy picture when you interview then you learn the real truth once hired. Better think twice.
