Pros

- It's a good place to be for a new workforce, you will learn a lot. The creative team is quite cool - Free snacks and drinks - HR events are helping employees socialize with each other - Colleagues are very helpful to each other

Cons

- The final decision over project scope is tightly held by the senior management. When you rejected a client request because it was out of scope, they would berate you because we should provide customer service. When you accepted a client request because you saw the senior management had been accepting all requests, they would berate you because it was out-of-scope. No matter what you did, it would always be wrong as long as you did not consult them first. - The senior management would go missing, sometimes up to a month, when you needed their decision. - While you were supposed to work on a project or two, they would drag you to help with another project or work on a proposal pitch for a new project (without considering your workload or telling the client). - PMs are just senior management's secretaries. They couldn't make decisions (because they would be berated), they could only take initiative in line with senior management 'ideas', and they couldn't concentrate on a project because they were being pulled in 5 different directions. - Too many HR events which did not help with your workload. Once a month is quite fine, but 1-2 events weekly are a bit too much. - Not enough resources to run a project and they would berate you for not doing enough (read: overtime) because they had this impression that everything could be done 'fast'. - Off-in-lieu for overtime in the handbook is fake because the senior management would not approve your overtime, therefore, you would never be able to claim off-in-lieu.

Dear Alephian, We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us, and we sincerely value your feedback to help us improve. As an organisation, we are committed to creating a high-performing, transparent and collaborative environment for all our employees, so we are disappointed to hear about some of your experiences. We are definitely aligned on delivering the best experience for our valued partners. We understand there were frictions from your perspectives but do note that we are always open to discussion from our delivery managers on how we can better improve our service for our clients. Aside from the above, we would like to clarify that what you have aforementioned is not fully representative of the work culture at Aleph. Our senior management are one of the most communicative people within the organisation and they do not go missing at any point of time. The leadership has daily and weekly rituals to ensure that the organisation's operations stays align to our organisation's goal. We also cherish family/personal time as much as you do. The mentors in the organisation are always available for you for a catch up over coffee regardless of the number of things they have on their plates. People are our top priority and should never be overlooked. Off-in-lieus are always allocated accordingly as long as it is aligned with the guidelines that are stated on our leave policy. As a young organisation, we strive to create an environment for Alephians to have a platform to create their best work of their lives. We will continue to work on constructive feedbacks and to conducive workplace to all. Take care in your next chapter.

Pros

1. Great place to learn as everything is hands on 2. The talent that they have here is amazing and the product they create is top end 3. The future for the company due to their product quality, is bright.

Cons

1. In your contract it will literally be mentioned there won't be overtime and extra time payment. So that says it all about your work life balance. 2. Due to their reputation on product quality, they take on a lot of project and the resources are mostly shared, resource planning is bad. 3. No proper organisational structure and process. Escalations takes a long time to be addressed out. 4. You might need to do other people's work in a project due to resource issues, and that is glorified and u automatically are valued. 5. Other than medical, there aren't other benefits that are given. 6. Forget about your Annual Leaves, you will still be called to get information, as there isn't back up system in place due to resources.

Dear Alephian, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on Glassdoor. We want to take this moment to appreciate your contribution to delivering quality work alongside the rest of #peopleofaleph during your time with us as well. Nonetheless, we do not appreciate any misrepresentation of us in the public space. We hope the following will help to clarify your doubts on your aforementioned. People are our top priority and should never be overlooked. Due to the nature of our business, working over the weekends is highly unavoidable due to delivery schedules. Instead of payment, we do provide off-in-lieu for Alephians who had worked over the weekend and/or public holidays. Nevertheless, do note that we do not encourage working overtime unless there are any emergency situations. We cherish family/personal time as much as you do. The mentors in the organisation are always available for you for a catch-up over coffee regardless of the number of things they have on their plates should you need any help or advice. Our resource framework is built to allow someone to be away for about 2 weeks time as long as there is a proper handover in place. Do let us know on which occasions were you disturbed and we are glad to look into it further. At Aleph, we strive to embrace a borderless culture where there will be opportunities for #peopleofaleph to jam and work on opportunities regardless of where they are based in. All resource allocations are discussed within the regional leadership before anybody is allocated to any work to ensure that #peopleofaleph will have great exposure to regional opportunities where possible. With that said, escalations are dealt with quite seriously within the organization and we take each flag raised seriously. Our regional leadership and happiness team are one of the most approachable people around and they will be available to connect you with the best person for a solution. Lastly, we cherish everybody's voice and would love to know how we can better improve our employee experience. Please reach out to us via hr@aleph-labs.com. We thank you once again for your feedback and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Good Colleagues, But Mismanagement

Pros

The only good thing here is colleague. They’re great teammates. Working with supportive and friendly colleagues is the only reason I’ve managed to stay as long as I did.

Cons

Management Management is the worst part of this company. Before joining, they promised there would be no weekend support and that yearly increments . However, once you join, you quickly realize that these promises are empty none of them are true. They always make big promises but never deliver. Project You’ll be assigned to either the MY project or the SG project. You’ll be based in Malaysia (MY), but the client is in Singapore (SG). There are two teams MY and SG and the SG team always assumes the MY team isn’t doing anything. They take credit because they’re on-site with the client, while the MY team constantly gets blamed. Recently, the SG management decided that the entire MY team must work on the client site full-time, and they only informed us one day before via email sent on a Sunday, expecting everyone to show up Monday morning. And there’s no transportation claim for MY staff working on SG projects. Project Managers The Project Managers here are some of the worst I’ve ever worked with. They have no management skills and no clear understanding of how to lead or organize a project. Boss / Team Lead The Team Lead is extremely unreasonable. Whenever there’s an issue, he’s quick to blame others instead of solving the problem. You’ll be forced to admit mistakes even when you’re not at fault. He often forces people to work overnight and on weekends. For example, he might ask you on a Friday evening to work through the weekend. It’s frustrating and disrespectful of your time. He will call you at night and weekend to ask you to work. Increment Getting a salary increment here is a nightmare. Before joining, they’ll promise a yearly increment, but in reality, there’s no increment at all unless you keep chasing HR for months. Even after review meetings, there’s often no result. When you ask, they’ll say “the company isn’t doing well” but somehow, some people still get increments. But when you resign, suddenly they’re able to offer you a counteroffer or increment to make you stay. Bonus Bonus allocation is not transparent. Some employees receive bonuses while others don’t, even when working on the same project. For example, this year the SG teams received bonuses, while the MY teams did not. Resignation Process When you resign, they’ll try hard to convince you to stay. You’ll receive calls from multiple people even senior management like the CCO. They’ll make promises and counteroffers. They also won’t allow you to use your remaining annual leave before your last day, which feels unfair.
