Pros

Was a good enough place to hide while the economy recovered. First and second level management were competent.

Cons

Very little innovation. New products frequently miss the mark. Upper management changes their minds back and forth. One particular person in upper management is delusional about his contribution and is nothing more than a schoolyard bully. Leadership for years has had the attitude of "If you don't like it, there's the door." This kept people working just enough to keep their job until the economy bounced back. There is no motivation, very few care. The sales team has a talent for finding potential customers who have no money- customer which other vendors have the good sense to pass on. It makes sales look busy, but they don't close deals. The sales team needs to be replaced from the top down.

Pros

As others have mentioned, about the only positive aspect here is the camaraderie of other inmates.

Cons

Total insanity. You know, doing the same thing over and over expecting different results? At various times I've tried to figure out how this company stays afloat and what its purpose is. The only possibilities I can fathom are a) it is some kind of long term behavioral experiment; or b) a money-laundering scheme. For example, there are no raises of any kind and salaries (for rank and file) are low... but when tens of thousands of dollars are spent on such vital items as coffee machines, latex gloves, CO2 monitors in break rooms, and biological hazard hits, one starts to wonder. I wish I had kept a diary. It would have made an amazing book.

Pros

Donuts, bagels, and fruit on Friday mornings. Dozens of specialty tea and coffee machines in a two-story building. Plenty of free, convenient parking. Decent medical and vision plans. Plentiful OTC drug dispensers throughout the building.

Cons

No annual or quarterly performance reviews. Rare to get a title upgrade or salary increase. Company "vision" changes on a quarterly basis. Mass reorganizations are the norm vs. the exception. All the chaos and stress of a start-up--without the fun, camaraderie, excitement, or sense of achievement.
