Pros

- Some very knowledgeable and collaborative colleagues, who have been with the company for a long time (i.e. more than 5 years). - Capable middle management, with some managers being with the company for a long time. - Good process management, using Scrum and Kanban methodology, with current team transitioning from three-week sprints to two-week sprints starting in 2020. - Good work/life balance, as managers discourage you from working overtime (on nights and weekends), unless a deadline needs to be met.

Cons

- Product technology is outdated (VB6 UI layer, with .NET business layer), and is transitioning to more modern platform, but that will not be in effect until a couple years down the road. - Like most big software companies, departments still operate in silos (Development vs. services vs. support). - Company stock price is a bit on the lower side, despite sizeable market share and growth potential. - Compensation is on the lower to average scale, not surprising given the current technology stack, and there is no annual bonus.

Pros

The people I worked with are great. The benefits and building were nice. My commute was not too bad. The cafeteria was great. Loved the shrimp and grits.

Cons

Short sighted decisions and not taking care of employees caused a large chunk of our group to look for other opportunities. Then the reward for not jumping ship is getting laid off. That is after taking on extra work for the people who got out before the ship sank. They blamed the cuts on Covid-19 even though our group’s revenue was way up due to more demand for our patient engagement products. Most of my co-workers couldn’t believe they let several people in our group go. The rest who weren’t laid off got 15% or more salary cuts and their raise deferred for 1 year. This is after we were told our group was safe from cuts because of how profitable we were. I do not recommend you work for Allscripts. There are better places that care more about the people who work there. I have several interviews lined up and will make sure to recruit heavily from the talent left. I am sure they are eager to leave before becoming the next target.

Pros

Very understanding management. Very "giving" atmosphere. Regular "Give-Back" days and opportunities. Regular events to celebrate staff. Free snacks and drinks (anything from Pepsi to Green Tea to Rockstar Energy Drinks and various others). Electric car charging spots. Very competitive/fair salaries (especially for this area!!). Like, seriously fair compensation. Allowed to take advantage of a "Give-Back" day once per year (allowing you to take a day off so long as you're 'serving your community'). Flexible schedule if you need it. Management will ALWAYS work with you. The directors are absolutely wonderful people. Safe-spaces to discuss issues you may be experiencing are practically every office.

Cons

Difficulty to advance/promote from your current position due to bureaucracy/red tape. Atmosphere can sometimes be click-ish, if you work in certain departments. I have not experienced this in the support department, but have definitely noticed it elsewhere. Share buildings with another Allscripts company, "Avenel". Avenel side tends to disassociate from FollowMyHealth side. This doesn't necessarily create much tension or anything, just some occasional unwelcome feelings at times. Lastly, watching several other people with zero experience in I.T., no degree, and younger than you (which shouldn't matter), get paid more than you when they share the same duties, is rather frustrating. Leaves you wondering what you did to not be on a lower level than somebody with no experience or education.
