Cons

To be clear, I worked for an Express Claims call center. They claim to be different than other call centers, but don't believe them. Career Opportunity - more qualified/tenured employees will be passed up for promotions in favor of people that just look like they fit the job. One of the best workers in the office was in the same position for 5+ years, constantly receiving the highest accolades from the rest of the employees/team leads. They constantly kept applying for higher positions, only to be passed up every single time. Thankfully they finally saw the toxicity and have also left the company. Compensations and Benefits - For such a mentally and emotionally taxing job, their health insurance covered barely any mental health needs. Seeing the exact same therapist cost $208 with them, when my current job's insurance just charges a $30 copay. The deductible alone was in the $3000-4000 range. Allstate gives you a HSA, but no longer contributes to it. The regular duties of the job aren't even worth the pay anymore, and all the people I know that are quitting are because they can't take it anymore. I myself took a job with a substantial pay cut just to get away. Work/Life Balance: I developed social anxiety due to the nature of the job and my depression became substantially worse. I've seen coworkers become alcoholics or other substance abusers just to cope with the stress. Culture and Values - You will be given "optional" work that is above your pay grade, with the threat that your future career will be in jeopardy if you request that you stop being assigned to the work. Most everyone I know that still works there is beyond burnt out. I never left at the end of the day feeling like I did good work, only thankful that I survived. Management - refuses to provide the resources necessary to prevent loss of morale. Free food doesn't help anyone. Piling on work doesn't help anyone.
