Pros

Remote or hybrid work environment; benefits are decent; paid time off is good to start with and increases incrementally each year; family feel; very inclusive; great management team and leadership!

Cons

Pay increases are slow coming due to being tied to project budget constraints and need to wait for contract renewal negotiations; no 401 k match; multiple platforms to access rather than one stop (timesheet system/HR system/Office365/Learning System/Intranet/docs/etc)

Pros

Stepping stone job into pharma. That is literally all.

Cons

I cannot express how poor of an experience I had and my disdain for upper management. We had an amazing manager who left since she couldn't deal with it anymore, was left with weak mgmt who didn't advocate for the clinical staff at all, or on the other end was extremely abusive to the specialists and everyone turned a blind eye to it. Female employees often got off calls crying because of this one specific manager. Also, no room for growth whatsoever, obsession with metrics that don't matter, no raises, horrible health insurance that covered nothing, no 401k, pay was the lowest in the industry BY FAR, other medical information contracting companies pay at least $20k a year more. We were chronically understaffed by design, and turnover was very high, so it's incredibly difficult to take time off or even schedule things like docs appts because you were often denied PTO. The worst thing to me was that there was no concern for patients whatsoever, we were even instructed not to tell patients in emergency situations to go to the hospital because of "liability", such a disgusting lack of concern for the very patients we were supposed to be helping. Noone could explain to me what exactly we would be liable for beyond "well what if it wasn't an emergency and then the patient got an emergency department bill, they could sue us for it". Well how about if the patient is dead because we didn't tell them to seek emergency services? AN should be ashamed of themselves for this stance. Probably half of the work was just customer service items like processing replacement claims rather than actual clinical work of any kind, things that other medical information gigs are not tasked with doing. You were required to take on-call shifts, which paid incredibly little, and isn't even something all med info contractors do, so I am not sure why that was required. On-call work was required for all holidays, so at least one of you is guaranteed to work 24 hours on Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. The hybrid model made no sense when we could do the job from home and we never had meetings. In the end, upper management wanted to squeeze us as tight as possible for literally the least amount of compensation possible.

Pros

Working from home. Work from home.

Cons

No recognition. Pay increase only when the provincial minimum wage increases. They ask you to do more than what they pay you for.
