Pros

You can learn a lot - many of the people within the organization are skilled or uniquely talented. Many of the technologies Amtrust has now incorporated (VSTS, move towards DevOps pipelines) are a valuable learning experience.

Cons

Leadership is lacking - if you want to learn what not to do as a leader, this is a great place to do it. If you can withstand lackluster or even incompetent leadership, you can get by here. You would not strive or grow professionally, but you can learn quite a lot.

Pros

The location and free covered parking.

Cons

Bad management, they don’t have a clue about harassment. If you are looking for management to know what’s going on-this is the place for you. Most managers here are in management for the first time and don’t stay long-longest length is two years. They then go to another company with their management experience. This company has the lowest ratings for a reason. If you are over 50 you won’t be here long. You are micromanaged out the door.

Pros

I have been working at AmTrust for almost a year now and so far things are good. They have been in a constant reorg mode since I started but it slowly seems like they are figuring it out. The environment is pretty laid back and as long as you get your work done, there are no issues. They have been offering a lot of training that has been helpful lately and my boss is very accessible and very good at communicating any changes, issues and even praise. They seem to be looking at rolling out an option for employees to work from home twice a week as long as there are no meetings that require you to be in the office. The people in the office are nice and they have thrown some fun events for the office (Food Trucks, Pumpkin Carving, Employee Fest and dress down days). They start you with 144 hours of PTO and we had 18 paid holidays this year and as a result of those, we did not work a full week all of September and the first week of October, which was a nice break for everyone.

Cons

They rolled out a new time tracking program (MPO) that has made it very frustrating to enter in time because there has not been any formal training and a lot of the projects that we need to bill our time is not loaded yet, which requires an email to the support team to have it added (which usually takes 10 to 15 minutes so it's not too bad). I have moved desks 5 times in my 11+ months, but that seemed to be a result of all the shuffling of teams due to the reorg. They are reviewing the worth of some older applications which would mean that some teams will be broken up and allocated to other teams, but this process has been moving at a snail's pace and that means that we have less and less work to do each Sprint, which causes some days where you are struggling to find things to work on.
