Pros

Free flights sounds nice but

Cons

You work 5 days a week even part time and may have to do mandatory overtime. You bid for your schedule weekly. They expect the part time job to be your priority. It is only $14 an hour in pay and a lot of the people I met couldn’t even use their flight benefits because they couldn’t afford to vacation. Limited off days are available and you also have 120 day probation period when you’re first hired.

The Worst!

Pros

Some would say the flight benefits are good... Training is very comprehensive & thorough

Cons

I understand why AA hires 200+ people at once, because employees drop like flies once they start working here. The retention is horrible because AA doesn't value their employees, everyone is replaceable. Mandatory overtime on short notice, they pay LESS if you choose to work remote (this makes no sense), they don't adhere to COVID protocols, everyone is terrified to miss a day of work so they come to work sick, horrible culture, management is non-existent and not engaged. It's a toxic environment & the union you are forced to join is useless.

Best job in the world!

Pros

Hands down the best experience of my life, and best job in the world! Would do again in a heart beat. Pros: - Liberty to explore the world anywhere, anytime for free/or next to nothing - Ability to pick up more hours - Co-workers who become family - Best looking uniforms in the air - Excellent health insurance + extra health benefits - 401K matching - Can live anywhere and commute to work - Decent union for when you need your back covered - Being first responders + essential personnel

Cons

- Wild passengers who like to test your sanity - Entitled passengers who have confused you as their maid in the sky - If caught in a passenger altercation, company will make you jump through hoops to prove innocence - Crew scheduling using and abusing - Over sold flights makes it sometimes challenging to travel - Based in expensive cities where you cannot afford to live on your own for $24k/year - Transferring to other bases can be challenging - Will work most holidays and not get the days off requested until sufficiently senior enough - Flying during a global pandemic (really any type of widespread illness) and being told you are not allowed to wear a mask in the beginning - eventually they came around but exposed many FA's lives
