Lurching from crisis to crisis

Pros

Excellent support team on the phone

Cons

You're going to need them because the software is unreliable, counterintuitive and restrictive, and you won't get any training in its use. Oh, and that's a fair description of management too. Swerving wildly from one crisis to the next, going through four CEOs in three years, Amplifon Worldwide can't understand that competing against the NHS is never going to give them the returns they want, so they try to change tack so often that each new initiative has no time to take root. Interdepartmental communication is non-existent, making a mockery of every attempt at joined-up practice, from product launches to special offers, both of which can be decided at a day's notice. For example: to encourage sales of a certain type of product, staff bonuses were tied to it - before anyone had checked what volume the supplier could provide. Half the company's staff denied the chance to win bonuses for a whole year by managerial incompetence, and being chased by their uncomprehending line managers the whole time! Knowledgeable, competent staff are being forced out and replaced with people on lower wages. Management are always externally recruited and there is a strong caste system - nobody in the ranks would ever be considered for promotion. And they pay below the Real Living Wage for work I'm currently getting 22k for, so there's that.

Pros

Good team ethic, good focus on clinical testing. A good selection of technology available and a nice working environment. All staff were very pleasant.

Cons

Not a well known brand in UK and diaries can be very quiet. Expectations are to form local alliances with other businesses such as care homes and GP surgeries which can be harder than it sounds. Career progression is talked about but also very difficult to achieve - quite a gap between leadership and people in the trenches. You have to be quite cliquey with the management which some can manage but not all want to be. I am not sure company can keep the differentiation it is trying to achieve between itself and competitors.

Pros

Great field staff, not much else.

Cons

Too many. The company is sales masquerading as healthcare. As a Client Adviser it's not a bad gig if your diary is full, but when it's not, you become a telemarketer. They have us compete for rewards for telemarketing too. Telemarketing aside, there's a real "not my problem" culture where outside of your clinic and senior, no one is helpful and everyone passes the buck. They push the audiologists hard too.
