All sales, all the time

Pros

Anaplan has some very very smart and talented people working for the company and the lower levels. The sales people are very talented and the professional services team is very strong and intrinsically motived (see extrinsic motivations for their dept below under Cons). Anaplan has also done a great job in molding a reputation for the company that they are a cloud leader.

Cons

The management culture is absolutely toxic. The hours you work are insane and thankless and the management says they want to help but in reality they don't care. Things are promised, and I mean literally promised, and not delivered on. They will try to get your salary down as low as possible, and there are zero "performance review" structures in place and so it's impossible to get recognized for hard work that you put in, especially if you're in professional services/customer success and spend most of your time on the road. The turnover in some departments (not sales) like CS is EXTREMELY high, and the morale is terrible, especially for a company that is growing so quickly and touts their great company culture.

Inspiring Team and Opportunity

Pros

Coming from a large legacy software vendor, it's amazingly refreshing to see such deep passion throughout the workforce for the solution we are bringing to market. The executives are approachable, the compensation is very fair (not to mention the options). What's most impressive, however is the speed with which the company is scaling, generally without growing pains. The unlimited vacation policy is as good as advertised.

Cons

Given that it's still a relatively young company, there are some internal processes that have not yet been defined, but given the deep experience the management team brings, those seem to be temporary.

Pain for Pleasure

Pros

Awesome technology, clear winner in the EPM space. Management is great at creating a strong feeling of "team," amongst the employees. We are able to do this by beating down the workforce with little opportunity for advancement, and minimal to no support. This helps create strong bonds between employees, while saving large amounts of money so we can pay upper management as much as possible. Additionally, the company culture is spectacular here, with lots of emphasis on the culture. Anaplan has a great company culture, everyone knows that. The culture is clear, and we focus on culture.

Cons

Greedy employees constantly criticizing upper management's decision making. They constantly disrupt and pester management with requests like "please pay us more, because we are working the equivalent of two jobs." Guess what? That's how salary works, if you don't like it, dust off your resume. Anaplan isn't a charity for the masses, it's a funnel for a few people at the output. Employees need to understand this and stop requesting additional compensation that matches the amount of work they do. Working long hours? Just work faster, that's on you. Those same selfish employees are constantly asking "What is the company culture?" If you have to ask, then you clearly don't get it. Regardless I clearly laid out the culture in the "Pros" section.
