Pros

It’s a company you can feel proud to work for based on the brands you represent and the corporate social responsibility they lead.

Cons

Their core value of “Ownership” is often disguised as expectations of long hours, late night emails, and weekend work - whatever it takes to get the job done as a “lean” business. Their performance driven culture is one that rewards only top performers, with only small buckets if money to distribute compensation increases across the company. They excite employees with a large variable compensation option in your offer and promotion opportunities as you climb in the company, but rarely pay out a full bonus due to lack of company performance (despite strong personal performance).

Pros

Ownership and Autonomy are through the roof - You'll be given the reins on big time projects from day 1. Compensation and mobility are top notch, and you're surrounded by talented, energetic people supporting iconic brands. Plus, there's free beer.

Cons

Work hard, play hard - If you're looking for a cushy, coast-on-by role, this isn't it A bit behind on the Diversity & Inclusion journey, but making progress and starting with visibility, commitments, and accountability.

"We'll Teach You the Rest"

Pros

The only real pro is the ability to be involved with a still somewhat widely recognizable brand that continues to coast along aided by the momentum generated over the organization's first 155 years.

Cons

The headline on AB's "Student Programs" website says it all, "We hire for culture fit first. Then, we'll teach you the rest." As a prospective employee who's likely in the throes of completing a grueling, years-long ordeal of acquiring an engineering or other similar degree, ask yourself if you really want to be part of an organization that no longer values what you might individually contribute to its success - your intelligence, innovation or capacity for critical thinking - but instead views you as tabula rasa; a potential cog to be placed in a rusty works which for almost 15 years, now, has been deprived of any meaningful lubricant for the sole purpose of enriching a few individuals who have eagerly embraced their leadership's myopic efforts to coax the last few drops of lifeblood from their host.
