Pros

The backpack they sent out is sturdy.

Cons

Dollars speak louder than the fictitious culture they spent so much money on with their branding. They are incapable of recognizing inclusivity, or diversity without a dictionary. Nothing about this company represents the buzz words they embedded in their documents. If you are lower than a Managing Director at this firm you will have no one to support you in matters about your Managing Director or Senior Managing Director. Reading the responses from the HR office is impressive, they do excel at spin, but it's not reality-based. Possibly it's HR's reality, further supporting how out of touch they are as a department with what is happening in the firm.

We are disappointed to read you assume the positive reviews are disingenuous and assure you they are not. We welcome diversity of opinions and hope that conversations, whether they are private or public, are kind and constructive even when opinions differ. While you may not share the same experience as many of our professionals, we are proud to have best in class retention. We have created engagement councils by level to foster communication across the company and around the world. The diversity of our leadership team and professionals is increasing: with our recent organizational changes, 50% of our CEO's direct reports are diverse, more than 60% of our new promotees to SMD are diverse leaders, and 55% of our remaining promotees come from diverse backgrounds. The collective success of so many talented team members is reflective of the culture and we celebrate their commitment and demonstration of firm values.

Pros

Free breakfast on Fridays and other events with food

Cons

- Discrimination against women and people of color. - Preference for hiring white men with J.D.s from second-rate law schools, many of whom could not manage to pass the bar exam. - Dependent on Microsoft Excel rather than more sophisticated software/databases.

Pros

It is very difficult for me to think of anything that I could describe as "positive" since my experience working at the Ankura office in Chicago, IL was far from that. I highly caution any woman that is hoping to be hired at this company, particularly at this office location.

Cons

While working at the Ankura office in Chicago, IL I experienced blatant gender discrimination. Because of this, I wasn't given any opportunities to progress my career. I was also subjected, on numerous occasions, to persistent sexual harassment that went unchecked even after submitting several HR complaints. Because these complaints were never taken seriously, I requested to work remotely; however, my manager denied my request because he didn't feel that my reasoning was sufficient justification. Ultimately, I was forced to leave this company because I couldn't bear the discomfort that I felt.
