Pros

Some of my co-workers are great. It seems like many of us are facing similar challenges.

Cons

HR requests positive reviews to overshadow negative ones that acknowledge a toxic culture. Apollo's culture is highly detrimental and unhealthy. I'm going to keep it real. Let's start at the top. Tim, the CEO, micromanages everything down to the lowest-level IC employees. The product's condition is awful, which can be attributed to his leadership and his constantly changing priorities. His unpredictable mood swings affect the priorities of the squads. It is not uncommon for Tim to berate during meetings. The lack of clear direction is causing further damage to the product. If anyone tries to oppose him, they are terminated from their employment. He frequently instructs us to simply imitate our competitors without any original thinking. He does not encourage unique approaches. There is no understanding of the user. This brings us to other C-suite leadership within Apollo. The only way to succeed is to agree with Tim and cater to his needs (not Apollo's users). Leadership, you know who you are. The product's poor condition has caused low user retention. Management of this kind is frequently hired and promoted. Management lacks leadership skills. At Apollo, our culture ratings are consistently low. The company does nothing about it, and everyone is defeated. It's tough to get through a day at Apollo. Due to a toxic culture, there is often politics, game-playing, and favoritism. Be careful of who you confide in, as they may betray you and leave you in a difficult situation. This happens throughout all departments of the company. Nobody is immune from it. Don't come here thinking you are going to change something because it won't happen, unfortunately. Many top talent are looking to leave. There is no career growth and no learning. They choose to hire new employees instead of investing in their current workforce. Morale is low. Backstabbing is real. Toxicity is rewarded.

Thank you for your review, not an easy one to read, we appreciate all feedback given so thank you for taking the time to write it. Apollo is a growing company and we have much to learn, we are still hiring and developing our leadership team, we absolutely continue to invest into our employees and internal growth. Just last quarter we had ~20 promotions and we have exceedingly strong internal mobility. We pride ourselves on excellence and being able to uphold a culture of proven results. Our performance standards are high, but our compensation structure reflects this. Yours sincerely, Declan

Pros

Fully remote company and there are strong team members that are trying to push for change, a clear strategy, and more transparency.

Cons

This is the CEO’s company and he appears uninterested in advice, coaching, or trusting his teams. He is a major micromanager and tries to take over entire departments to improve morale and output. Generally it has backfired. Additional major cons are: - disappointing benefits package - cheap travel budgets - no distinct culture - poor senior leadership - first time founder/CEO - poor diversity and no distinct DEI efforts - no clear vision or strategy for the company - CFO role has been vacant for 3+ months and Chief People Officer role for 9+ months (and counting) - The Product team is a mess due to heavy turnover and shifting directions - priorities, goals and okrs change regularly - high salaries are being used as the basis to burn through employees - employees, myself included, are consistently being asked by senior leadership to compromise on ethics (seriously!)

Pros

The people were great at the beginning, who have now all left. Smart, ambitious and friendly, but no one wanted to stay here.

Cons

Founders had no business sense or vision. They drove our senior leaders and were not considerate to employees time or emotions. Founders made multiple employees cry seemingly on purpose. Very high turnover among women. All reviews that are positive were written by HR.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience at Apollo and appreciate your time here as an employee. We take culture and inclusion very seriously and it’s evident by our Glassdoor ratings of 4.1, which has massively improved over the past years. Apollo has a high-performance culture and we understand if it’s not always a fit for everyone. We have not had a CSM leave us in the last 12 months, so I suspect you worked here at least a year or two ago. I would like to believe that the company has made tremendous all-around progress. We are committed to making Apollo the best place to work. Thank you again for your insight.
