Pros

Relatively flexible working environment. Casual dress, okay working environment. Decent coworkers. Once you're in, you've got a job unless you mess up catastrophically or you choose to leave.

Cons

Management likes to write checks that prod dev then has to cash, and there's a breakdown in communication between the people who draw up the features and the devs who have to create them. Dev isn't allocated enough time to defects or tech debt, which leaves us in a constant state of crisis with our larger clients. Agile isn't well-understood from the top level, and there's a lot of burnout among the developers. Employees are often jaded and cynical about "the way things are" and even though they would love to see things change for the better, are skeptical that they will. The salary is quite low compared to market value. There's very little positive feedback. Favoritism is absolutely a thing, but you can make that work in your favor if you know how to.

Pros

People you work with are great. Free coffee/tea/hot chocolate, free bagels on Tuesdays, and the quarterly free meal. Yay. Insurance is pretty standard, if that considering they write insurance management software. You would think they could score a deal on insurance for their employees. Great people to work with, but the good ones are in the wrong place and need to move along. Good resume builder. Jump in early, get out early and take the lessons you learn with you, it'll make you a better professional. Company's revenue continually rising. Might even be publicly traded soon. You can really feather your nest there if you aren't interested in serious career progression in the mid to late stages.

Cons

The company is a selling piece for an investment firm. The company has been acquired a few times recently, and the way they make and spend money would tell you the same story. They don't take risks, they pay their senior management ridiculous money, and leave the rest of the workers to the dogs. If you're willing to brown nose it, rat out people underneath you, and be 'part of TEAM APPLIED,' you will be just fine. The CEO in place was put here to flip the company. The CEO has done this before, look up Reid French's previous endeavors and you'll see why your wage is what it is. Also, the wage disbursement is hilarious. I came into my position making more than my mentor. You want more money? Threaten to leave, assuming you're of value. The culture of how things are done, from the drone voices of people working for 20+ years killing time until retirement, to the hilarious circus called product development, it all feels very unmotivated, stagnant, and depressing. You want to help change the company? Change it negatively by leaving for a company who compensates fairly. You try to care, and you get shot down with collective "Well, that's how it is" and shrugs of indifference. It is what it is, you are a cog in the machine until you choose not to be anymore.

Pros

Very family friendly company. They are so supportive of their employees with families. They have a room setup for nursing mother and even expectant mother parking.

Cons

They don't like to hire new employees for their smaller products so there can be a lot of work for those people. It also seems like people are always moving around and switching positions.
