Cons
Long vacation blackout periods (1/3 of my final year) around unrealistic and eventually meaningless deadlines. Severe lack of trust by management. Lack of consultation by management on timing and feasibility of large scale projects. No acknowledgement by management when critical issues are repeatedly raised, ultimately resulting in failure to meet goals and then being thrown under the bus - set up for failure. Some managers refuse to recognize superb skill/talent/results with a small promotion/senior title designation or career growth plan - no upward movement. Payment for training outside of "Bird U" (the internal training modules, recognized by no one outside of Arcteryx, and thus quite meaningless) comes out of your own pocket - no development for employees. Management doesn't care about you as a person, only what you can deliver. Poor work/life balance because you're so stressed. Everything is the top priority... Not enough resources, personnel or time to be successful. Passive aggressive communication by management to keep you in your place. Management surrounding themselves with unqualified "yes men/women". Management protecting clearly toxic employees. Management's inability to admit they have ever made a misstep. Upper management gets together every so often to give each other promotions and you get to join in and watch.
