Pros

I've worked for several large companies before and Arm is by far the most laid back of any of them. The management is very cool and accessible. (I sat next to the CEO Simon Segars at a dinner a couple of months after starting. The benefits are better than average(healthcare especially!) There are also little intangible benefits: farm to table cafe with a private chef on site, funds available for self-improvement, super flexible work schedule.

Cons

There are two main downsides to working at Arm here in Austin. First, no stock shares. Since Arm is owned by Softbank now, there's no opportunity for stock to be a part of compensation. Second, the Arm office is pretty far south. If you live down south that's a benefit. Unfortunately I live north so the drive can be hellish depending on the time.

Pros

I'm a recent hire who joined within this calendar year. This review is from my perspective as an experienced hire in a high profile group within ARM . My experience here so far has been very positive. This began during the interview process. I had a great rapport with my interviewers, all of whom were in senior roles to mine, and who are all now my colleagues. My first set of responsibilities set me up to demonstrate my strongest skills, which worked in my favor because I was able to be very productive from the outset, and delivered significant results within my first three months. This has in turn elevated me to further responsibilities. The onboarding process here was quite nice, with the Big Picture, and subsequently an opportunity to visit colleagues at Cambridge HQ whom I'd worked with. I've found the work stimulating, and the workplace environment a friendly and enjoyable place to be. Pay is quite competitive, and in my own experience, the range data on Glassdoor is disconnected from reality. The company is small enough that at least at this level, you feel that your role is significant, rather than being another cog in the machine.

Cons

The company is small but growing fast. Some things can be a little disorganized. A little patience goes a long way, because they really do try to fix things quickly, and there's no malice intended. It's nice to see that feedback for improvement doesn't disappear into a black hole.

Pros

ARM has an open culture that is very refreshing if you've been in an organization like Intel where it is hard to get hold of the information you need to do your job. It is justly proud of what it has achieved from humble beginnings. Cambridge, as well as being a beautiful city to live in, is a place where almost everybody is intelligent, and ARM only takes the best, so you will be working with exciting people. For experienced staff, ARM pays well and offers a range of bonuses, in particular a substantial new starter bonus which you will get at the end of your first year at ARM. The takeover by Softbank has not affected the culture, all that has happened is that our horizons have been widened by the opportunities for new investment.

Cons

Don't be starstruck by being offered a position at such a great company - make sure that the position is one you really want. If you are an experienced individual and want to keep your technical skills going, make sure that this is not a management position that you are being offered.
