Boys Club

Pros

Cool product, nice officers, coworkers are generally smart and capable

Cons

Leadership is stubborn and stuck in their ways. It's a total boys club and many talented women have been forced to leave the company without jobs lined up due to the obvious favouritism and petty decisions by leadership.

Pros

- Amazing designers + marketing team. Brilliant people! - Great products + discounts - Flexible work options (but only because of covid not because they were forward thinking) - Decent benefits

Cons

- Poor management (and i'm not talking about execs) - Some of the managers I've worked with don't know how to be managers. They don't know how to lead a team of people, lead by example, or know how to demonstrate compassion - My managers were not in communication with each other and thus I was overworked. I was blamed for it instead of being offered support or guidance when I brought it up on three occasions - You are literally just a number to Article. Nothing more. And at times you will see that you will be treated like such. - Poorly defined job responsibilities. I ended up doing a lot more than what was expected of me in this role which is fine. But management should be defining the responsibilities and managing their expectations of their subordinates better. - If you are asking staff to perform duties outside of their regular responsibilities, you should be patient, understanding, and offer guidance... I received very minimal of this. - Outlook doesn't look the hottest for the company - Downturn in sales post-covid

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to review Article and your functional area. Your feedback not only helps us to identify key areas that require improvement, but gives us the opportunity to do so. Your points outlined address a number of key areas that we are working towards improving and refining at Article. In particular more clarity around roles and responsibilities, accountability and decision rights, as well as support for Managers, both new and tenured. This work is ongoing and will continue to be evaluated and improved upon. More-so we are committed to an open and transparent communication channel between all Particles across the company, so that all of our Particles, like yourself, do not feel unheard or unsupported by their department managers or the leadership team. This is a high priority for us. I have always viewed Particles as our greatest asset. I do hope in the future, as an Article alumni, that you have the opportunity to experience Article again in a way that leaves you empowered, heard and fulfilled. As always, I am happy to connect off-line for a coffee chat to learn more about your experience if you are open to it. - Wendy Youds, Senior Vice President, Product
