Pros

Aspect management let's you do your job with no micro-management, until you prove that you need micro-management. This is good, as you can always count on someone being there for you.

Cons

It's 'get the job done' first, even if you don't know what you are doing. I have seen many employees get frustrated and leave because they do not get the training or product knowledge that they need to be able to make a difference.

Pros

= Professional atmosphere = Opportunity to be creative and work for a leader in industry = Most managers were respectful and encouraged creativity; opinions valued = Decent benefits and great work=life balance

Cons

Working at Aspect was like working for two companies: On the one hand, I found working with teams and managers very enjoyable which fostered good, team spirit and you felt at times treated like family. On the other hand, good work wasn't rewarded by upper management, and as previous posts mention, the culture is "miserable" with high waste from those doing minimal work while others carrying the load. I believe some the problem stemmed from lack of pay raises over the years and the disastrous, bungled "employee engagement" plans. Management should have just told the company that we were doing poorly and given 5% salary decreases across the board instead of giving cuts up to 25% to some of these poor employees and their families. I mean, how de=motivating is that? At the following SKO, upper management even had the audacity to spend lavishly on a house band, fancy hotel and events, and doling out President Club trips to each other when they had underperformed for the year. Companies and potential candidates: Vet Aspect closely. The current regime might turn things around and appear to be making some positive moves. The market is saturated with little growth potential and I still think Aspect is limited by depth and resources. They have a big hill to climb with motivating their employee base and bringing back the many customers that have defected. There has been a huge "talent drain" in the past year and you see why. Hard to believe that they are paying off debt and frankly don't believe they are positioned well. I wish them well though.

Pros

Still some potential for certain job categories. Software engineers are the most valued. If you work in an area they need, you can negotiate a decent position and salary, depending on where you live. There is still some advancement possible for top performers.

Cons

Aspect sales have been slowed by the world-wide economic downturn and by the fact that they face some very tough competition. Their flagship product is having problems with quality and with meeting the release schedule. They suffer from being a company that has grown by purchasing other companies and trying to build their central product by kludging acquired products together instead of creating an integrated product from the initial design. They are much more focused on profit than on the welfare of their employees - many have not had a raise in years.
