Pros

- Salary is very competitive - Bonus is competitive if you are in sales or at the VP level - If you want to test your mettle to see how much abuse you can take, Aspen is a good testing ground - My personal daily commute at about 30 minutes was tolerable

Cons

- Feeling like a valued, contributing employee will be up to you to make yourself feel that way; upper management actions imply that Aspen is doing you a favor by allowing you to get a pay check regardless of your contribution or results - No communication from upper management w/r/t to business decisions - edicts are handed down and if you don't like it you can find the door - HR does not perform in the role of employee advocate - they are company first, people last - If you are male, promotions are based on the potential you might be able to do a job; if female, good luck. - Upper management rules with fear and dominance - Upper management says they want a collaborative work enviroment but actions do not support the words - Fingerpointing, scape-goating and bullying is the standard of conduct demonstrated and encourages by upper management - Raising valid business issues and concerns will only get labeled as insubordinate and unsupportive - Advice from a C-level executive at the fiscal year kick-off in July 2011 to about 350 employees: what is the first thing you do after you knock your opponent down? Kick them! Then kick them again and hope the ref isn't looking.

Pros

- good starting salary - character build-up - you can run a side business using AspenTech's resources... the coffee is really bad though - a few employees are very talented and high working

Cons

- soviet-like bureaucracy... and Stalin is always right! - witch hunting... don't dare to say the Earth gravitates around the sun - tendency to hire the worst managers in the market. If you're looking for a management position and your IQ is below 60, AspenTech is the right place for you! - no career progression & pay rise, if any, is way below inflation - HR uses the Bell curve to rate the employees performance... bad luck if you fall outside the mean. - management has no knowledge of chemical & oil industries, but has a MBA on Excel spreadsheets - software out of date... since Larry's team wrote the models in the 80's, very little has been added/improved... on the other hand a lot has been destroyed - a company for sale

Pros

Descent package including great health insurance

Cons

No career progression (unless you are with the gods...) Fear policy and blaming culture Upper Management clearly ignoring employees red flags and creative ideas, "if you don't like it, there is the door" attitude (Fusco) Deep down growing general demotivation Very heavy atmosphere 90% of the employees I know are active on the job market . The Leakage the previous person mentioned has started. Numbers talk. Good luck to you all.
