Pros

You will get a lot of experience in the software business. Health benefits are very good. Co-workers are very friendly.

Cons

-Salary and raises are a joke compared to the amount of work they expect you to do. - Management turns a blind eye to problems & expect you to deal with it. -Untrained, unexperienced and disrespectful people are put in higher level positions, driving a whole department out of the company. -If there is a snow storm, do not expect your manager to let you work from home; instead they'll say: "Take your time getting here or use a vacation day".

Struggling to improve

Pros

The people here are generally great though many of them appear to be the working dead, they make the best of it. The company is still in a transitional period with it's new CEO and corporate headquarters; things have improved even in the short time I've been here but it still has a way to go. HR does their best to arrange 'fun' events to improve employee moral and I get the sense that as a whole, the company does genuinely care about their employees and culture but employees and executives that have been with the company since the old guard may hinder the adoption of a employee-centric culture.

Cons

Entire business model dependent on the fossil-fuel market. Benefits are adequate though maybe not as competitive as they could be. Salaries may be exponentially lower than market average - which is the case for my position. Arbitrary deadlines exist for no purpose other than for middle-management to justify their own existence. Employees with inadequate or out-dated skill sets create more work for co-workers and waste company resources that could be spent on more qualified candidates. Company structure is top heavy. Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians.
