Good pay, good benefits-but poor management and no corporate direction
Pros
Pay is competitive, benefits are better than average for E&C, and the discipline workers in the Oil & Gas division are mostly dedicated and well-qualified. As with all E&C's, when there's work, the office has a laid-back feel, when that changes-its tense. Work life balance mostly OK. Office has nice amenities. IT department is better than average for an E&C.
Cons
Work flow is erratic, Business development is unfocused and hit-and miss. Some senior managers do not get along with each other and that negative relationship affects the smooth-running of the office. SNC-Lavalin Canada cannot decide if it wants to play with the "big dogs"-Fluor's and the Bechtel's, or just try to get the scraps of smaller projects from below average-to-average Houston clients. Once that is decided-the office should improve.
