I love working at Austin Retina!

Pros

I love the fact that we get to work in a team environment while being able to help the community by saving sight. We also get to work alongside world renowned retina specialists who use top of the line equipment/testing and also have access to the best treatments available. It is a fast paced environment which can be demanding but that is why working with my fellow coworkers makes it enjoyable since we get it done as a team. There is also room to grow within the company. I have been with Austin Retina Associates now for almost 6 years and have moved up along the chain. I started as an ophthalmic technician, after 6 months I became a scribe and almost a year ago a I became a Team Lead. Great place to work if you want to move up within a company.

Cons

If you don't mind not having a set schedule (example: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm), then there aren't very many cons. We travel to different cities in the central Texas area which can be demanding but is still fun.

We truly appreciate your review! Teamwork is HUGE for us! We try to support our team so that they will have the tools to save sight. Our technicians definitely do have variable schedules and they're asked to travel on day trips.

I am really impress about our CEO communications, for example during bad weather times, she send out messages like, do not come until 10am because the road is icy, or during the storm our managers where pending about all the employees and we were pay for the entire week of that snow storm. They prefer us safe. That means a lot for me. Every time I speak with my supervisor I learn something new, I really enjoy it, I like my manager even she is really busy she always support me, also when I have issues with my family, she is there. The girls and a boy that I work with are amazing, even we are not together, means we are in different locations, we support each other, time to times we have fun through the chat, like the time our supervisor share with us about a transaction that she made and was wrong but she catches it on time to fix it. Expressions from some of us to her.. like you are fired or 6 days of suspension or lunches for everyone in our team. LoL

Cons

The hardest part of the job is when your patients are not in a good mood and treat you bad, that is hard, but also you have the lovely ones. Too many patients to take care, sometimes is overwhelmed.

Thanks for the review! Yes our front office supervisor is very open about her own mistakes because we know that everyone can get better and it's great that you can joke about "suspending" her! Humility is very important with us. And paying our staff during the Snowpocalypse of 2021 was just an example of how Austin Retina goes the extra mile for our team members. Our doctors cannot save sight without each of us!

Pros

Awesome people from the doctors, upper management, managers, supervisors and coworkers. Everyone is treated with respect. They offer competitive salary and room for advancement and Austin Retina will train you for advancement.

Cons

Some jobs include traveling to satellite offices. Depending on where you go, these could be anywhere from 9-12 hr days.
