Pros

teams are usually pretty fun and friendly.

Cons

Pay Plan is TERRIBLE. Nothing sucks more than getting a $100 commission on a luxury and seeing a $4000+ gross (they will try to hide the gross from you, but its easy to find on compass on any deal)... Not only did they cover more than my entire months "hourly rate" but they got away with giving me 2.5% of a sale vs. the normal 20-30% most other companies/dealerships give. If car sales is a career path you're considering, do not go with autonation. The pay is not enough to allow you to "live" comfortably. Our dealership management was jumping for joy when they made 50k in a weekend... yet their sales team more than likely made less than 3% of that as their take home... Autonation is still figuring out their payplan because they just changed to it, but as of right now the compensation is a slap in the face, find a different company until they fix it.

Pros

It's a job. That's about it.

Cons

You are a number. They don't care about you one bit. All about numbers. You could do a terrible job, but if you look good on paper , you won't get yelled at . Do all the little things that really matter and you will get nothing because it doesn't show up on a report. Meetings after meetings. Conference calls after conference calls. All because they don't have a grip on what the stores and employees are doing. Constantly trying to reinvent the wheel. Just when you get trained on something and figure it out , they will change it and mess it all up. Just look at the stock price. It has dropped in half while the rest of the market has gained . Go to any store and you will find disgruntled employees. No doubt about it. No Christmas parties. Try to take a sick day and they will run you out of the store. They say one thing and do the total opposite. Terrible place to work. Don't get trapped like I have been.

AutoNation asks that its Service Advisors help our customers turn an unpleasant event into a positive experience. However, we understand that if our employees are not getting the same in return when in the workplace, this is difficult to accomplish. We appreciate your review and will ensure your feedback is heard.

Pros

you can learn the basics of your position and the industry then move on to another company.

Cons

just about everything - all the corporate owned stores been making life hard for non-manager employees. less and less PTO, horrible health insurance and matching nearly none of your 401k. Autonation takes the cake though. they have no sick days so your afraid to call in sick so don't you lose your PTO of which it takes 6 years to get 3 weeks, could it get any worse? corporate has no idea what goes on at dealer level and new 'policies' that get introduced are put into effect poorly. Nothing gets fixed until it's completely broken, never a proactive effort to fix any problems/issues. Managers only concerned about one thing: The Bottom Line! long work days, poor life/work balance, 6 day weeks with no overtime incentive for most employees. Replacing qualified and skilled people with low paying unskilled people we all must train. Constantly changing pay plans to make it harder to make the money you used to make years.
