Unfortunate Shift

Pros

Remote options and some decent benefits.

Cons

There has been an enormous shift in the culture at Autosoft, the turnover due to the ever changing mind of the CEO is baffling. Numerous Directors have been replaced and promised an amazing opportunity to shape the culture and their teams. These directors are quickly notified that that is not the case. If you are hired in a leadership role, you must act quickly to make changes that the CEO likes in order to stay in his good graces. This is an impossible task. The company has become an environment of hostility amongst peers due to the secret meetings and the enjoyment of drama from HR and leadership. The company tries to lure you in with promises of a great opportunity however they make drastic changes behind the scenes that affect the daily lives of the employees. The culture used to be full of adults, now everyone is out to get the other in order to save their jobs and not be the next target. This shift is caused by the small mindedness of the CEO- who believes he is the next Steve Jobs and HR who comes with a manufacturing thought process in a SaaS environment, meaning it is doomed to fail.

Pros

Great people Lots of activities Decent benefits

Cons

Autosoft is the epitome of "yes men" leadership. Fall in line or be terminated, have a suggestion that doesn't match with senior leadership, terminated. I see a lot of responses regarding "my door is open," talk about a "Venus Flytrap," that will only expedite your exit. For the last few weeks, people are being terminated for made up accusations, not embracing change, not towing the company line. Autosoft fails to understand the essential part of change management; it's called management. Emails, phone calls, and chats are being scrutinized to identify people that may have a difference of opinion. Senior leadership style - Make no decisions and provide no direction, abdicate all responsibility to subordinates, then hold them 100% accountable. It's the "blame game" that starts at the top. "But for the business to be successful, we need motivated and passionate players," the recent departures are not about motivation or passion but because they didn't "kiss the ring" of their boss, which in turn gets you fired, or quit out of frustration over the direction of the company. Employees don't leave their company they leave their managers. Which would explain the high turnover rate? We've stopped asking who but how many gave their notice during any given week. As soon as this get posted, they will either attempt one of three things. Attempt to have it removed, write a comment (fake and funny), or investigate everyone's internet activity, find out who possibly could have written it, and make up a reason to terminate them. I'd care, but I'm already looking for a new job.

Thank you for the feedback. At Autosoft, we've made many changes and improvements in Product and Development, transforming to Agile, strengthening teams, giving individuals an opportunity to spread their wings and advance to new roles, hiring new talent and skills, and preparing for the new product platform launch. Change can be difficult, especially for those who aren't willing to accept change, or understand the company vision and goals. I agree with you, that part of the strengthening of the company is allowing managers and contributors the ability to step up and make decisions, and be accountable for their teams, but also be allowed to make mistakes along the way, learn and grow. We do need the right players, with the right attitudes, passion, and desire to be challenged, and bring ideas and solutions - that's part of our culture. We welcome the feedback and comments because we are a transparent company, and real, constructive criticism makes us all better. Unfortunately, Autosoft isn't a fit for everyone - we've been raising the bar and not everyone has the ability to evolve with the company and expectations. Autosoft has a great culture and has won many Best Place to Work awards because leadership isn't afraid to make changes that are best for the entire company and long-term future. For the handful of individuals who don't agree or aren't happy with the changes, I encourage them to move on to new opportunities, for their own health, happiness and career.

Pros

--> The people who work on making the software are generally good and actually care about the product they're building and what they're doing. The Product Owners are (were) some of the smartest, most dedicated people I've ever worked with. --> The work culture was, at least, really good for a long time.

Cons

--> Management is a joke and a disaster. There's either not enough managers so one's got 30 direct reports, or there's too many and now middle managers are attempting to do projects that they're wildly out of their depth for. --> In 2023 a new leader came in and (attempted) to move the company to Scaled Agile, which was a joke. A company with barely 200 people? What need was there for scale? Simply holding the Product Managers accountable for their failures would have had the desired result without also upsetting everyone else in Product Development, but no, direct confrontation is too hard, better to hire on someone new and rearrange everything so the issues can be addressed indirectly... --> Last I knew, they still had spyware on everyone's computers, a micromanaging power-hungry HR Director, and a CEO who still doesn't know what he's doing at all.
