Pros

The people: Everyone is excellent to work with and very understanding of learning curves. Leadership: I've been impressed with the leadership team from the beginning. They are inclusive, mindful, conscientious and driven to succeed. Onboarding: There is a LOT to learn, and the onboarding process has been pretty good. There is room for improvement, but it's far better than many other places. Work/Life balance: This goes along with "people," because there is a genuine recognition that everyone needs time away to regroup and come up with some of their best ideas. The hours are reasonable.

Cons

A lot to learn: if you're coming from outside the healthcare industry, there is a whole new language to learn. Availity also has its own language, and both are chock-full of acronyms and abbreviations that are difficult to discern. It comes with time, but I wish there was a glossary of terms to review. With a company this size, there can be a disconnect between people/groups. I've been fortunate to have access to someone who seems to know everyone and everything, so I can get help, but it can be tricky if you're trying to find the right person or team. I guess a team directory would be good, but there's a good bit of movement that would make that difficult to maintain.

Thank you for writing such a fantastic review! We agree, there’s a lot to learn at Availity—especially if you’re new to healthcare. But that doesn’t mean our “healthcare veterans” know it all, either. Fortunately, we know there’s a learning curve, so we make space for associates to learn, ask questions, and share resources to help everyone feel informed and engaged. There may even be an acronym glossary hiding around here—we’ll make sure to get it updated and posted to our internal website. Excellent idea!

Pros

I joined Availity during Covid-19 pandemic. The interview process was efficient and thorough, which I appreciated to ensure it was a great fit for both employer and employee. I received constant updates to inform me where my application status was which was much appreciated during these uncertain and stressful times. Starting a new job in different niche with work from home orders can be challenging but with a supportive team and leadership along with the necessary tools to succeed, I feel comfortable and at ease. It is clear why Availity has been certified as a Great Place to Work, the company culture, leadership, and opportunity is amazing. 2020 was a challenging year for all in many ways. I feel the opportunity that was granted to me by Availity was the silver lining. Very excited grow with Availity and contribute to the company’s goals.

Cons

I don't have any at the moment.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It's great to see such a long list of "pros" in your comments. Having gone fully remote nearly a year ago now, we sometimes forget to mention how great our office environment is, so thanks for the reminder. Many of us are looking forward to using the office again! We agree with you; we are busy. We want to hit on your comment, "high value on metrics vs. low value on customer service." Everyone working at Availity has goals to achieve in support of our operating priorities. It's these goals that help drive performance and improve outcomes. But at the end of the day, it's not just about achieving these goals--it's also about HOW we achieve them. In client services specifically, associates are tasked to provide both efficient and high-quality service to our customers. We hope that every associate understands that efficiency and quality hold equal weight based on our corporate values. Providing quality service for some customers may take longer than it does for others—our goal here is for associates to stay mindful of both efforts in every interaction but not to sacrifice a quality customer interaction to beat the clock. So if you're feeling too much pressure on the metrics, please discuss that with your manager. They may be able to provide some helpful guidance in this area. Thank you again for your review. We are happy to have you on the Availity team!
