Pros

The company is growing a lot. New contracts have necessitated increasing the staff. This has opened opportunities for the existing staff. Avatar likes to promote from within and has done so consistently. Avatar has also paid for the training of employees in fields that support their duties. It is a great work environment.

Cons

There are very tight deadlines that must be met for our military customers which can be strenuous. Also critical KPIs are set which the company expects to be met, or a reasonable reason why not and what will be done to fix it.

Pros

None. A fading technology base, subsisting on minority status for Govt wins

Cons

Overtly, aggressive and demoralizing micro-management. Imagine interruption every 10-15 minutes and you'll get it! Leadership is obviously desperate and riding on company minority status to check boxes for proposal wins. Completely disorganized information structure, verging on the fast-track to company collapse.

We Do Important Work for our Nation's Most Important People

Pros

There is no ceiling on your career at AVATAR. I started at the bottom and have been promoted to the top. If I can do it, so can you. We serve our Nation's warfighters, first responders and industry. I am excited to come to work every day because the developer team and the products we build are the best (we are not us saying that - our customers are).

Cons

Pace is fast. Our employees are self starters, highly professional and committed to excellence. This is not a 9-5 business. Every business has their challenges and we are very open about our commitment to solve them. The company has become the leader in augmented and virtual reality application development and our number of projects has grown five-fold in the past 2 years. The company invested in the Developer Team and not overhead, which means that there are a lot of administrative challenges. Processes and procedures are being updated to accommodate the expansion, but that has taken time. We are in transition and that is tough. Post COVID, we have also transitioned to a 90% remote workforce. That can be considered a Pro, but I'm a hands-on leader and consider it a challenge to make sure everyone feels like they are still part of a team.
