Pros

Flexible hours, call center is open from 4:00am-6:00pm Mon-Friday. Some employees are approved for 4/10's.

Cons

Customer Service Department is not appreciated, given bonuses, incentives, etc. Christmas party was at a bowling alley, door prizes included an Avesis coffee mug, which everyone is given when hired. customer Service must have doctors note for sick days. Morale is poor throughout administrative, customer service, and claims positions. There are many other call centers/companies that are more stable (Avesis is in danger of losing major accounts) and way more appreciative of their employees. Horrible health insurance benefits. Family coverage (one or more dependents is over $500.00 a month.

Pros

The pay is mostly in line with what other companies pay for the same level/type of work. The people here tend to be really friendly.

Cons

Where do I start? How about micromanaging? How about metrics that don't make sense? How about not caring whatsoever about the feedback from your employees about what isn't working? How about being held to a strict allotted bathroom time and you can't go even a SECOND over that time? And if you need to use the bathroom more than that, like any grown adult should be able to, you are required to get a doctor's note. How about supervisors trying to make up special rules for specific employees that other employees don't have to follow? How about managers blatantly trying to intimidate employees to stop them from calling out sick? How about internal job openings never being posted for employees who have to find out through the grapevine that these positions in other departments are being listed all the time on Jobing.com but they made sure not to let us know about it? That happened for probably 6 months. They're only now starting to actually give us a chance to apply for these jobs, or even know these positions opened up at all.

Pros

For CSRs, I do believe that the company does its best to allow them to work in an environment that is as free from stress as possible. The cubicles for CSRs are pretty spacy. For leaders, I can't think of any pros.

Cons

As a team leader, there were too many to count. 1. Incredibly Theory X-focused senior leadership team who prided itself in working with a 20th-century mentality. To support the concept of good attendance, it de-emphasized taking time off and assured it by having an embarrassing work-life balance policy in place. This isn't in line with modern work practices. 2. A mid-level leadership team that has zero clue about business acumen, is visibly uncomfortable with someone challenging ineffective process (often non-existent processes), and genuinely are shocked when you demand evidence for claims made. Also, a group of people intensely opposed to receiving feedback. 3. A pernicious culture of corrective action veiled in the language of "development and coaching." There are rarely serious repercussions to an inability to meet service-level agreements. 4. Few policies in place that professional call centers have. For example, the attendance policy was essentially treated on team leader-by-team leader basis. Where one team leader would have a coaching discussion for three absences, another may wait two months. ZERO business acumen. Overall, very trashy, low-programmed, and unprofessional culture.
