Pros

Working for a very large, global orgainization can sometimes make you feel like a "unit", but I don't feel that way working here.

Cons

My position is very demanding since it requires interfacing with customers and their demands daily. With recent downsizing, we have put a freeze on any new hires which puts increasing demand on current employees.

Pros

Job satisfaction. Although dealing with some customers can be hard on one's day, working with knowledgeable people is important and is how things eventually favor the customer.

Cons

Uncertain times as far as the technology market is concerned.

Pros

I would say the reason I stay at Avnet is the relationships that I've created with co-workers and customers. I like the chance to work with talented people across the country. I have a good immediate manager who knows that I do my job and he doesn't micromanage me. Unlike some of my other co-workers I'm able to complete my work and leave work at work at 5pm. I'm not required to work on weekends or evenings unless I choose to.

Cons

Senior management tends to be "good ole boys club". Promotions seem to go to the guy who brown noses enough or the girl with the best "assets". People who work hard on a daily bases are expected to produce more with less and not get any kind of appreciation or recognition. But the ones who "slack" but have that one big deal get all kinds of kudos.
