Pros

Working with people. I have loved working in the travel industry since 1985. I cannot see myself working in any other industry. We have a great group of travel counselors and have fun everyday at work. We have been extremely lucky in Butte to have a fair and caring manager. BCD Travel Management took there time to find the right fit. They did a fantastic job. The center has had a positive working atmosphere making work feel like you are truly spending the day with an extended family.

Cons

The instability of the industry as a whole. All the travel management companies are making cut backs including BCD Travel. That is a very scary situation.

Pros

1. Despite challenges in the travel industry, BCD Travel tries to balance what's best for the company in addition to the employees. 2. BCD Travel strives to be competitive and proactive regarding profitability. 3. BCD Travel has an attractive vacation and PTO policy. 4. In the right geographic area, salaries are highly competitive.

Cons

1. In some cases, there is a lack of timely and effective communication by management to the front line regarding change, challenges, and company direction. This causes an atmosphere of distrust, uncertainty, and resistance to change. In addition, managers need to be more proactive regarding communication and keep employees in the loop- I knew several employees who sought other employment simply because management never got back to them to confirm that their contract was in tact; this was an unnecessary loss. 2. There appears to be a lack of interest in employee engagement and tying in each position's importance to the success and future of the company. 3. Raises do not keep up with inflation. Employees find that their raises have been eaten up by the annual increase in health care preimums.

Pros

BCD Travel offers excellent pay and benefits in addition to lots of travel related perks. The company is in the top three of all travel agencies in the world and is over 10,000 employees strong.

Cons

High turnover of senior management is a big negative for the company. It sends a signal to employees that not all is well in paradise.
