Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that pay, benefits, and PTO were strong positives for you — those are important parts of feeling supported and valued. At the same time, we understand how concerns about management and long-term growth opportunities can impact your overall experience. Feeling uncertain about direction or future prospects can create frustration, and it’s important that employees have clarity and confidence in where the organization is headed. Your advice about making a clear commitment is heard. Transparent communication about priorities and plans can make a meaningful difference in building trust. Thank you again for sharing your perspective — it’s helpful as we continue reflecting on how to better support employees.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It’s encouraging to hear that you find the salary competitive and that the member-first mentality comes through in the work you do. Knowing that leaders are approachable and open to listening across all levels of the organization is especially meaningful, and we’re glad that’s been your experience. We also appreciate your note about limited locations. While that can be a consideration for some, your feedback helps highlight how accessibility and presence can impact different employees and members in different ways. We continue to research and add Neighborhood Financial Centers in locations that will have greatest member impact. Your advice to continue listening and adapting is well taken. Staying open to feedback and evolving thoughtfully are key to maintaining a strong culture and continuing to serve members well. Thank you again for sharing your perspective and for being part of the ongoing dialogue.

If you must work in finance

Pros

Less sales pressure than other FIs (however this is changing with its current leaders) Great healthcare benefits Lots of good people at the desks.

Cons

BECU training and skill advancement is weak overall. Those running classes on PowerPoint’s have not adequately demonstrated their own skills before leading classes BECU has a cult like atmosphere where a lot of people are dishonest about why they’re there. The company is filled with people that are self-serving. Company leaders are inadequate at their jobs. Executives have damaged the company’s culture. Everything you do is projected against what kind of vibe they want not skill or knowledge. Current CEO worked for Wells Fargo during the financial crises. She was asked about how she felt about being there during that time and said “we all thought we were indestructible”. She also hired union buster from Starbucks. Once asked a VP what being apart of non profit meant to him and he said “well, I’m really very selfish” and didn’t attempt to answer the question.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We take concerns about leadership and the comments you're referring to very seriously. We will ensure appropriate parties are made aware, and this can be addressed. The organization is hard at work to ensure we focus more on skills our employees possess as well as provide an outstanding internal mobility experience. Your feedback helps us to shape what is needed. We know leaving feedback isn't always easy, but we appreciate you doing so! It will help us shape future work at BECU.
