Pros

- Great culture! Everyone is very friendly, and overall people are supportive. - Decent benefits, including: 401k matching, pension plan, plenty PTO, & a decent wellness reimbursement. - Management is open to feedback (at least at the branch I have worked) - Many growth opportunities! I have never seen so many people promoted in any of my previous employers. - Coworkers are lovely! BECU knows how to hire nice people.

Cons

- Pay disparity. It's hard to know folks who started after you were given a higher pay range. The highest pay I was quoted is lower than the starting entry level pay for new hires. I've been told it is to attract more talent and stay competitive; it's difficult to swallow when you and other employees have demonstrated loyalty, dedication, and success to the organization. Even if more tenured employees are promoted, we will be perpetually behind in pay for any new hires promoted after us. This is my biggest gripe with BECU, and I don't feel like it's doing the right thing. - Dated programs that can make the job more tedious. - Sometimes, the retail higher ups implement instructions that cause issues for frontline staff. For instance: we are not permitted to put up any signs indicating an ATM is down or has limited functionality. I partially understand why signs are not put up (it could be repaired before we remove the sign); however, it's not fun to be screamed at daily from members about how we do not have signs up. - Some tension between departments. Sometimes we forget we are all on the same team. - If you have dependents/spouse, the premiums for healthcare skyrocket.

Pay, and time off were great.

Cons

Very unrealistic sales goals, and rude customers who didn't understand the business model.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about BECU’s sales goals and business model. BECU team members are critically important because of the member experiences you are personally creating. Educating members about our services and how our business model best helps them achieve their financial wellness. As a financial co-op, BECU strives for balanced performance – it’s not just about the numbers. We care about our members and because of that we also work to deepen our relationships with them when we see value in what we have to offer. We are driven by one of BECU’s core values, “Members First.”

Pros

There is good health insurance and good benefits in general, which is a major plus. It's nice not working on Sunday's and getting paid to volunteer.

Cons

Management is generally incompetent, play's favoritism, and works employees to the point of exhaustion. Work life balance is something most hourly employees may get... although some hourly employees work overtime and don't get paid. Most departments work constantly. Inefficiency is also common. It takes a long time to get anything done. Gossip is also the norm. Don't expect to get promoted without playing politics.
