Going downhill, beware

Pros

Wellness days, remote work, generous PTO

Cons

Inconsistent pay structures. Responsibilities from Account Executives, who boastfully make double, are pushed onto Processors. Processors are expected to do the jobs of Account Executives with low recognition and no pay benefit. Stack rank commission and bottom 20 earn unlivable pay

We disagree with your review. Since 2001, BHG Financial has always placed employees at the forefront of what we do, ensuring each member of the team is set up for success. Our compensation plans allow dedicated and driven team members to continue to earn competitive pay with upside potential. Pay plans are performance-based to reward those employees who exceed expectations, and are consistently evaluated to ensure they are fair and equitable. We also recognize the hard work of the team through bonuses, a Recognition & Rewards program where points can be redeemed for items and gift cards, as well as Quarterly Awards Ceremonies which pay up to $1,000 per award winner. Furthermore, we offer an array of perks and benefits all with employee health and wellness in mind. This does include Wellness Weekends, remote work options, and 15 days of PTO (20 days after 2 years), as you mentioned. We’ll be sure to pass along your feedback to our team, though please contact us at people@bhg-inc.com to continue the conversation.

Pros

Compensation and the ability to work from home

Cons

Everything else: This position is marketed to you as a fantastic opportunity, it is a trap. You are told in your initial interviews that this job is a finance role and you will be speaking to clients and helping them with their financing needs. You are put into a two week learning and development training period where you learn all of the ins and outs of the company. From there, you start live on the phones with no form of start to finish training on how to actually take applications and do the job. You are taught to lie to people, you are taught to tell people what they want to hear, and then you are taught to take applications for people that aren't even qualified for a loan, but will make it through to funding with a 30% interest rate. The 'coaches' don't give you any sort of transparency, they lie to you just like you are taught to lie to your customers. They will tell you that you are doing great, but in all actuality they just want to keep working you like a mule and not giving you any commission no matter how much money you fund the company. The company as a whole is an evil money making machine, they don't care about their employees and they definitely don't care about their clients. If you want to be a sleazy salesperson and work for just as sleazy managers, take this job. If you actually care about your mental health and don't want to work 14 hour days including weekends, stay away. Also, you don't get any PTO or benefits for this 'temporary' position. If you have any sort of family life or care about having your weekends, you're out of luck. As upper management will say over and over again, 'if you are not a runner, we don't want you here". So essentially, if you aren't willing to sign your life away, you might as well quit because they don't care about people who don't work 60+ hours a week.

"Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are very concerned by your feedback, especially that around BHG Runners. BHG Runners are passionate about what they do and ""run"" not because they have to run, but because they want to run. Our Sales Academy is a highly competitive team that offers a different sales environment, as they are not required to build their own book of business, and are evaluated over the course of 90 days for full-time employment. Due to a high demand in our product offerings, many Sales Academy members choose to work longer hours to convert leads and see the benefits of that time spent in the form of a larger paycheck. We wish you the best of luck in your next opportunity and if you have further feedback to share with us, you can reach us at people@bhg-inc.com. "

A Very Pretentious Facade

Pros

Heath Insurance was a great perk.

Cons

I worked for BHG for a short amount of time. I happened to see all of the accolades online and decided to see what the “hype” was all about. I found a position that I thought was going to be an incredible opportunity for my career and applied and was hired right away. I wish I read between the lines, I wish I did more research, I wish I listened to the reviews on Glassdoor, and I wish I never ran before I could walk. Yes, insurance perks are amazing and extremely helpful in general and during a pandemic, so I will give them that credit. Unfortunately, that credit is taken away because in order to enjoy insurance perks you have to be able to withstand some ridiculous expectations within certain departments. I constantly found myself working crazy hours and my “ideas and work” never being good enough for what was wanted, criticized, and changed. I was praised by other employees in the company and on my team but never from my boss. There was a very, “this is my department and no one else has run it before except me” attitude and was constantly belittling me through emails and on video calls. Also, don’t expect HR to ever side with you or play fair in your fate because they are all chummy with the departments and they will belittle your work ethic and anything you try to stand for. The “PMA” or “positive mental attitude” slogan is something they choke down your neck because they spend majority of their time trying to emulate Google and Microsoft. These are prestigious companies who have proof of their success and not just by local magazines or one big time magazine they pay to be in. The employees genuinely respect the company and the company appreciates the employee. Also, BHG is constantly letting employees go to post their job description online again and choose someone that could be a better fit. Owners spend majority of their time focusing on the sales aspect and not partaking in the other departments and their well being. Just know you’re in for a very inconsistent ride when working for this company. Ideas are not valued unless you’re “in” with higher management, a lot family members work for the company and carry the high titles, extremely long hours on weekends and when you should be able to log off and cook dinner for your family. Awards are repetitive, favoritism is blatantly obvious, don’t ever expect fairness or assistance from HR, and know just because something looks shiny and new, there could really be rust at the bottom. I’m glad I actually can see other reviews now and take them for what this company truly is because although I couldn’t save myself, I can possibly save someone else.

At almost 20 years old, BHG’s culture still resembles what you may see from a startup, with an emphasis on speed and constant innovation. While our team does work hard, we’re proud of the programs we’ve put in place to further the work/life balance of our team, such as monthly fitness and mental health initiatives as well as generous PTO plans that employees are encouraged to take advantage of. Innovation is what BHG was built on and we believe that great ideas can come from anyone, at any level. For that reason, through organizational health and commitment to our core values, we’re always working to foster an open environment where people can speak freely and always be heard. If you would like to discuss the sales environment further, you can reach our team at people@bhg-inc.com.
