Pros

Free gym membership, free health insurance, philanthropic activities, company swag and outings, location

Cons

Long hours/ late hours, weekend shifts, disorganized management, favoritism, random firings for no reason..I think BHG used to be a great place to work, until the CEOs started to get greedy. They undercut their employees every chance they get and play dumb about it.

Pros

Work from home... (not worth it anymore)

Cons

A word of warning if you're considering joining this place - things aren't what they used to be. They just axed a lot of solid performers right before the holidays with barely a word from leadership (they did the SAME thing in 2023.. I guess us who stayed trusted the lies we were fed...again). Basically "profits over people" is their new motto. This used to be a top workplace in NY, but it's gone downhill fast. The recent changes are brutal - they've slashed 401k matching to a laughable level, killed bonuses, and kept "restructuring" commissions annually at a minimum (spoiler: you'll make less money each time and have a larger workload. My commission has been restructured 7 times in 5 years!). There's also plenty of nepotism going around and everyone at the company knows it. Salespeople especially beware - they'll have you grinding through low-quality leads while paying minimum wage for your first 90 days with no commission. After 90 days the floodgates of terrible quality leads open and your commission will be a peanut. But don't worry you'll be told that "you can work your way out of it" and the lead distribution team "is working on it" (they've been working on it for 5 years for me!). Don't expect much support from upper management - they're notorious for keeping everyone in the dark. Middle managers have it rough too, constantly having to deliver bad news without any real explanation from above. The whole culture has shifted from valuing employees to treating them as disposable. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. If you do join, just know what you're walking into - a company that's more focused on short-term profits than building a solid team or taking care of its people. ...(Queue the canned HR damage control reply below)...

BHG Financial Response

This review contains multiple inaccuracies and does not speak to the commitment BHG Financial has to our employees, customers, and culture. While we're open to hearing feedback, we don't feel that your opinion accurately reflects the pulse of the company. We strongly encourage you to utilize resources within our People Development Department or to connect with your direct manager. Since 2001, we've placed the BHG team at the forefront of decisions while ensuring our company remains in the best possible standing to continue pushing towards success. Thanks to tough but effective budgeting, we did not have major layoffs before the holidays this year unlike many other companies. We've pushed through tough climates and feel that we are now in a much better place to move forward together as a team, all while creating a healthy environment for everyone at BHG. In order to be successful, our company has had to be nimble, and we appreciate all of our employees who have adapted to the changes. While our benefits have changed over the years, we stand behind our competitive offerings. We understand that our employees make us the company we are today, and we are incredibly proud of those who come in and continue to row together as one team every single day. We truly believe that every employee has the choice to show up and give their best. As mentioned earlier, we recommend reaching out to our PD team with your concerns, though we'd like to note that most of the comments from an employee of your tenure are not applicable. Please contact us at people@bhg-inc.com so that we can further discuss your experience.

Pros

PTO, 401k and healthcare coverage are all standard benefits that you can find anywhere corporate. There's nothing to brag about here. Especially with how costly healthcare is with BHG, they only match 3% to 401k, and if you try and use your PTO- good luck making any money in that month.

Cons

The commission structure has changed several times within the past year alone, each change has been a significant pay cut. The latest update is stack rank pay- meaning you could hit your goal (even exceed it) and still make close to nothing depending on where you fall in rank. Last in rank makes $100 for the month, even if they meet their goal, they get nothing due to where they land. There’s also NO accounting for LEAD VOLUME- you could be .03% behind the next person and have taken on twice as many leads as they did. So performing at the same conversion level, you’ll make hundreds less than that peer, despite processing twice the amount of applications. When I started with the company, the sales target was 80% conversion of leads. When I left the company, the sales target was 93%. You’re constantly chasing a moving goal post. Deplorable, cut throat, dog eat dog environment. What kind of company LinkedIn page disables their comments? BHG...and that speaks volumes.

We appreciate your feedback but respectfully disagree with your perspective. At BHG Financial, our compensation plans are designed to allow dedicated and driven team members to earn competitive pay with significant growth potential. These performance-based plans reward employees who excel in their roles, and we continually review them to ensure they remain fair, equitable, and attainable. While we have made adjustments in response to the economic landscape affecting many companies, including BHG, our foremost priority remains our employees. Their well-being and recognition for their hard work are paramount in all our decisions. On that note, we continue to offer generous compensation plans along with a multitude of perks and benefits like health coverage (including vision and dental), 401k matching, life insurance, a bonus structure, a Recognition & Rewards program where points can be redeemed for items and gift cards, and so much more. This is in addition to comprehensive training and career growth opportunities within the company. Feedback from both current and former employees is invaluable to us as we cultivate a culture of transparency and dialogue. We genuinely value your concerns and insights, and we encourage you to reach out to our People Development team at people@bhg.com to further discuss your experiences. We regret to hear that your time with us at BHG Financial did not meet your expectations, especially after six years of dedication. Nevertheless, we extend our sincere best wishes for your future endeavors.
