Good people, old school approach, declining industry

Pros

Good people to work with. Challenging work. Intelligent engineers (for the most part).

Cons

Old school approach. Little regard for employees. Declining industry. Old workforce (avg age ~50). Little or no plan for employee development. They ask for you to do more with fewer resources while simultaneously apprenticing with company veterans.

Pros

Close commute, modern office. Offers a decent amount of paid holidays. The good people make it nice but they don't last long.

Cons

No job stability, frequent layoffs. Old fashioned business practices. The I.T. department is a joke, full of nasty people. Look elsewhere for employment if you want job security. Very top heavy, they use you, burn you out and lay you off.

Pros

1) Pay is above average. 2) A decent amount of paid holidays. 3) Nice modern offices.

Cons

Micro-management practice with some engineers that cross over the professional line and are very arrogant. Project managers sell jobs for x amount of hours with a scheduled due date and then hand it off to an engineer in a manner in which they must "race" through calculations to meet the deadline. This practice is done by the project engineers to "bank as-sold hours" in order to increase the profits - which is very hard and unfair to any engineer. Bottom line is, the company does not care for its' employees under the management level.
