Summers & holidays off Can sometimes reach a student and change their lives

Pay does not reflect the time and effort needed to be successful Weak leadership in many schools (Principals, Asst. Principals, Department Chairs, etc.) Central office makes the decisions, but it is filled with people who haven't seen a classroom in years System chases federal money Low support from administration

Pros

You only have to work when you want. You are finished when school is over which is early. You don't have any responsibilities when your day is finished. You are not responsible for students grade performances. You can learn a lot about all ages, grades, schools, and system in general. I feel like many of the teachers and administrators appreciate the help!

Cons

There are many behavior challenged students in each classroom. Students misbehave more because you are the substitute. You are basically getting paid to babysit unruly children because unfortunately, you do not have time to help or give attention to the students that deserve it.
