Pros

Bamboo Health embraces the remote employee, which (up until the lockdown) was not true or even an option for most. The people on my 'teams' were always easy to work with and eager to help others. They have shifted the focus to not just include the physical health of the patient, but their mental health as well.

Cons

Bamboo Health takes away a fantastic employee-driven rewards program and replaces it with a Slack channel where your name is mentioned, along with a bunch of emojis . They come up with all these new 'things' that are supposed to help make quarterly goals, but it only adds stress to an already stressed out group of people. They have an unlimited PTO plan that sounds great until you realize that you've taken less days off in a year than an hourly employee. They merge with another company, hire a large number of people (knowing that we're on the verge of a recession), and then they do it again! By the time they do stop, it's too late. They have to lay 102 people off, which takes an already stressed out group of people and makes it even worse. The group they lay off are treated like pariahs, even if some have been with the company for years. This is not the way you treat people that work/worked for you.

Bamboo Health Response

Thank you for sharing your experience at Bamboo of working with supportive team members and your appreciation for the company’s focus on patient health and wellbeing. Bamboo values the achievements of our employees and has embraced using Slack channels as a way of recognizing one another, along with annual employee awards and competitive compensation practices. We are passionate about revolutionizing healthcare and, as a result, grew rapidly in 2022. As a company, we were not alone on the need to pull back on hiring and reduce headcount over the past year. We strove to provide career and financial support to those who were unfortunately impacted by the reduction.

Pros

Smart, hardworking, and collaborative workforce.

Cons

Lack of clear communication and company strategy from leadership, even years after the merging of two companies Poor HR team: Members of the team reported bullying behavior of department leadership to HR, and then were fired shortly after. Only after a substantial number of individuals in the department started leaving the company did HR take anything seriously and fire the CMO. Poor pay: Consistently well below industry average Layoffs handled terribly, each time Promotions were biased and the likelihood of them depended on which department you were in
