Pros

People at Bandwidth are great, flexibility and work life balance have been awesome and benefits are good.

Cons

The CEO just announced return to office 5 days a week no exceptions for all employees with very little heads up. Get ready for developers to leave in masses which Bandwidth was already struggling to hire and keep.

Bandwidth has been dedicated to working together in person for the last 23 years. Most recently, we have been publicly building a brand-new campus in Raleigh to support our unique, thriving, in-person culture. Our commitment to doing meaningful work while having a full, flexible life is evident in the new campus's central location, state-of-the-art offices, onsite Montessori school, fully equipped fitness center with indoor basketball courts, and rustic gathering place barn and amphitheater. We are excited about our upcoming move-in date in the summer of 2023. Our focus on our culture has driven almost a quarter century of growth serving our global customers. Throughout the last two and a half years, we have been clear and open about being committed to returning to full-time, in-person work here and at our new campus, and are excited to be bringing everyone back. There are other great companies that will offer hybrid and remote opportunities, but at Bandwidth we have never wavered from remaining in person. We believe we are in good company.

Things are turning around, slowly

Pros

Things that have always been true: - Very good work/life balance - Company-paid health insurance premiums (for very good coverage) - I love working and growing with my team Things that have improved in the last 12-18 months: - Pay has become much more competitive - A change in stance on working from home (which seems blindingly obvious in hindsight, but represents a willingness to listen to and adjust to feedback at the top) - A decision at the top to become a true software company (as opposed to remaining a telecom company that dabbles in software because we have to)

Cons

I'm going to level with you. It's been really rough here over the last two years. You can read some of the 1-star reviews to get an idea as to why. On top of these factors, the great resignation has hit us hard - some of our key team members have moved on to other jobs. I miss working with people I care about, and hiring and retaining talent is just as hard for us as it is for everybody right now. The above begs the question - why am I still working for Bandwidth when greener grass is just an interview or two away? I'm still here because I love my team more than I love the idea of getting paid more. The work-life balance here affords me the room to do the things that make my heart happy. I've built a community here that would be hard to replicate elsewhere. These things would be a lot for me to give up for greener grass (that always comes with brown patches that you generally don't learn about until after you get hired somewhere).

Pros

Benefits NC State amenities Room to grow

Cons

Low Pay Micro Management Toxic Culture (Boys Club) Lack of Diversity Pay attention to the critical reviews as well as the copied and pasted canned responses no doubt by the People Services team. The cons/reviews are consistent, low pay with zero flexibility with high expectations of work and delivery with no return. You may get a recognition email and a $25 Amazon gift card if nominated by your peers. COVID response was horrible. Being 300 percent candid is not a real thing. Management will pull you aside if you give professional feedback and chastise for your response. All of operations are being overworked, underpaid, and undertrained. Devs are underpaid and not given the necessary tools to succeed. People are leaving at an alarming rate. Constant reorganization happening around different departments. The Whole Person Promise looks good on paper but employees know the truth and this last year showed exactly where commitments stand.
