Pros

Worked on observation as a patient care texh. Loved my nurses. Best teamwork spirit I've ever worked with. Almost always had the tools I needed to do my job. Everyone is pretty friendly.

Cons

The last review I had really made me angry. My manager had nothing but good things to say about my job performance. Also said she never got complaints about me. However, I lost points (they said it was hospital wide, which doesn't make it any better) because the hospital didn't meet retention goals for employees. I also lost points because I didn't meet my personal goal. When I was hired I wasn't given one. So I lost points for not meeting a goal I wasn't given. In the end, I was given a 20 cent raise. I thought the whole process was pretty demoralizing. I heard from people who've been here a while that banner used to give Christmas bonuses. My bonus last year was a $5 gift certificate to the cafeteria. When hired, nurses are told thathat the max patients they will ever get would be 5 but that 4 should be the normal. They are almost always maxed out at 5. There are supposed to be 3 techs to a floor. But there are almost always only 2. So we usually have 15 patients to ourselves. Which can be exhausting. Also they only give away one scholarships per year. Sucks when almost everyone i talk to is in school trying to better themselves so they can get a better job in the company.

Pros

Some really great people trying to lay low and hold onto their jobs

Cons

Management 101 or the lack or ability to care for staff, they run you into the ground, high patienbt/nurse ratios fear and intimidation works (so archaic) when you are seeing your clinical coworkers constantly being walked out the door. No support of RN's if there is an error, what do you expect if you overwork an RN, caution YOUR LICENSE IS ON LINE and BANNER WILL THROUGH YOU UNDER THE BUS. Constant hiring of new grads who are, desperate to get their foot in the door, and are cheap, senior nurses either let go because they are too expensive or they leave for fear of loosing their licenses
