      Pros

      The biggest "pro" from working at Battelle is that your peers will most likely be very intelligent, insightful and capable. It can be very inspiring to work in an environment where you are surrounded by such smart people. That is, until management lays them off.

      Cons

      Huge inconsistencies and no standardization in hiring practices, advancement, salaries, etc. Management is extremely lopsided with 98% of employees falling into the "Level 6," or lowest category. Individuals with exemplary technical skills do not seem to go to the management route, so management can be very incompetent. This compounded with the fact that managers have anywhere from 30-150 direct reports means little to no quality interaction between manager and employee.

      Interesting work if you can find some Smart coworkers in general Decent healthcare

      Cons

      Losing talent at a rapid pace, hiring and replacing with younger less qualified staff Culture of managing up, entire levels of management who aren't doing anything Lots of nepotism for raises/promotions

      Pros

      They put a strong emphasis on safety. Flexible working hrs. with consideration for those with families.

      Cons

      New hires are fresh out of college and do not have enough experience which really affects the quality of work that you are then responsible for. There is no training/mentoring in place at any level so everything is trial by fire. They lay off/dismiss people quite often to cut cost consequently no one is willing to own up to mistakes and moral is extremely low. Lower Mgmt is so concerned with costs that they have no idea what is going on in their own departments.
