Pros
Christmas bonus (not much but anything helps), Christmas frozen turkey, the people are generally friendly and helpful
Cons
Hardly enough merit increase to combat against the rising cost of living (last year's max raise was 2.5% when residents and doctors got 5+%). It is very physician-focused (how to make them more money). Poor pay, and they have a monopoly on healthcare which drives everyone else's costs up. You cannot choose another insurance provider. There is no respect for employees unless you have MD after your name. No opportunitiy for career advancement or placement. You are pretty much stuck in one position unless you try to find something else. There is no career path. Good 'ol boys mentality. If you don't know anyone, then you can forget trying to get ahead. Insurance rates are ridiculous for employees when employees of the Board of Director's organizations pay less than S&W employees do. Doctors don't have to pay insurance, which makes us (who hardly make anything anyway) pay more. I work, finally after 3 years, in a semi-professional role and about half my department has a second job just to pay the bills since S&W doesn't pay their professional-level masters degree holders well.
