After many years at Baystate, the past 5 years or so have been terrible. Far too many employee's are now treated with a lack of respect and professionalism by many in management. The hospitals mantra has been geared toward saving so much money in costs it now jeopardizes patient care and safety due to a lack of proper staffing. If the subject is brought up to management, especially with nursing supervisors, you are then harrassed from that point on in an obvious attempt to get you so frustrated you will quit. Some nursing supervisors too often cater to their 'friends' which creates a lot of discord within untis/floors. Sadly, this seems to be the MO of a number of hospitals in MA, CT & RI, people are aware of it, consquently fewer and fewer young people/students now consider a career in nursing. Many that do, leave the profession within five years or so, some change their majors in college once they get a taste of nursing care versus the bean counters.
