Pros

I enjoyed being given more responsibility and learning many new things. The company is not in debt and could have a bright future if they make some major changes to prevent turn over. People were very talented and had good work ethic. Good starter job, but not for someone looking for a more balanced work life.

Cons

The overtime was ridiculous, and it seemed to be the corporate attitude, there was a lot of pressure to work well over 6 pm. I would have asked for more money if I knew I would be working over 47 hours +. My manger ignored this and never gave me a 90 day review! The worst part is the benefits do not start for nine months and those were very expensive, yet they gave away 100,000 to Florida schools!? Word of advice, don't get sick. The computers were old, and needed updating badly. The old fashioned way of thinking is too ingrained in the higher ups, I felt like I was in church half the time. Too old south for me, they will fall to JC Penny and Khols with these ways of thinking. I wanted to slit my throat when I heard the bible stories being brought up in meetings as a way to explain competition in the world market! I mean are you serious?

Bealls Management

Pros

Employees were very down-to-earth and were well trained to perform many job functions.

Cons

Upper management falsely advertised the availability of benefits and vacation time, and grossly underestimated the amount of hours required to work. The district managers are spread out through the state and they don't spend enough time with their store managers to give credible feedback that would beneficially impact a person's performance. The pay structure is much lower compared to other similar size stores and require much more hours.
