Higher Insurance, No Raises, Annual Party Still Planned this Year...

If you have a good DM & run a clean, profitable store, your job is pretty much secure..

Cons

Higher insurance rates..NO Raises this year, but they still are having their Annual Party, which includes bringing in employees from Florida to California, putting them up overnight, paying their transportation & renting a hall for an awards dinner!!! If they CUT OUT this expense, they could give pay raises to their hard working employees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is a great place to work with friendly people and a warm family like environment. Mangement seems to really have a genuine interest in the lives of employees.

Cons

Career paths at the company are not clearly defined. The 401k plan is not currently being matched, but this is due to the economy. Training is not always readily available to advance skills in entry level positions.

Pros

It has been a strong company even with the economic struggles people are experiencing at this time. A customer base that is loyal. Most employees like to stay at these stores for years. All retail is struggling these days but so far our company is hanging tough. I feel pretty secure in knowing that the jobs will be there tomorrow. The company is trying to keep customers and employees happy. Most of the merchandise is reasonably priced for the average consumer which makes Bealls a competitive company in todays market. I left a major retailer to join this company and have not regretted the move.

Cons

The 401k isn't being matched . Bonuses stopped. Insurance has gone up and pay hasn't. I also believe they are putting the wrong type of merchandise in the store.
