Great environment, amazing employee recognition, fast-pace on the weekends, and very friendly coworkers!

Cons

Drama, too many hours, low hourly rate for part timers, long shifts on feet, slow during the week, you have to make sales but no commissions.

Tons of hypocrisy from corporate. Belk wants to be the preferred place to work in retail, on the mission statement. Poor pay, hard to hit goals and you have to take 15 percent of your workforce and throw them under the bus at review time due to forced ranked review system. If you try to explain that all of your workers do well, have been with the company a long time and you have no turnover and new associates it falls on deaf ears. Corporate HR is run by a bunch of underachieving castoffs from other companies, some without HR backgrounds. Do not leave a good job to chase a ten percent income gain to go to Belk you will regret it.
