Pros

The people. The team I have been a part of are the best I've ever known. Hard working, sacrificing, wonderful people.

Cons

Associates are abused. OE, the busiest time, lasts 5-6 months out of the year. You are expected to give up any personal life during that time and basically be on call. The work is not rewarded. Couple that with constantly broken/inefficient software, you have a perfect storm of never feeling that the work you do is appreciated, much less, any feeling of accomplishment after a long day. After a recent round of layoffs.......in order to appear profitable to shareholders......I am further convinced that the core values of the company have gone by the wayside, and a new corporate mentality has been born. One in which you are no longer an associate, but merely a number. A company that was applauded for bringing so many new jobs to SC and doing so many great things for the SC workforce has now effectively paralized those remaining in fear by layoffs, and are OUTSOURCING all those jobs that were brought to SC.

We hear you, and appreciate your review. As you know, software is a fast-paced business and we must change with it. We did make some changes within the company over the last few years, but we have a really strong team in place and they are leading us into the future. If you have specific details you would like to share, I am happy to listen. You can reach me at stephanie.feals@benefitfocus.com.

Pros

Free coffee and fruit is just about it.

Cons

Everything! This place is seriously a joke. They overwork you, underpay you, then tell you you're not working hard enough, then tell you you're working too hard and they're figuring out a way to fix it, then an incompetent friend of a director gets promoted. The cycle of more than 3 years at this place. There is no consistency. The software is terrible and if you're client facing you have to own up to it. The company then makes promises to your clients on your behalf that are impossible to achieve. Then you get in trouble by the very people who knowingly made the promises that can't be kept for not keeping them. If you're not medicated and you work here, you'll have to be. If you're already medicated and work here, your doctors going to recommend at least twice the dosage.

Bad and getting worse

Pros

You get free food sometimes. Culture is over promised and under delivered.

Cons

I don't think that management is trying to be dishonest, but it often comes across that way. They have little to know knowledge of how to be transparent and communicate reasonable expectations. Management has gotten significantly worse over the passed year. Associate well-being is met with apathy by management. The times they actually do pay attention to it, they treat it like it is a fad diet. Management will spend at most 2 weeks on an initiative and then it is quickly forgotten until they step on the scale and realize it has gotten worse than ever.
