Pros
I worked with some wonderful behavior technicians who were highly skilled and passionate about their jobs. Unfortunately they received little recognition or appropriate benefits/compensation. I would not recommend anyone work at this company, and more importantly I would never recommend someone enroll their child in this program.
Cons
I'm going to echo what a lot of previous reviews have said about this company. My number one problem with this company was the lack of respect both to families (who are the paying clients there) and to staff. I attended many meetings with middle management that made judgmental and inappropriate jokes/comments about families or just overall snide remarks. Rather than have a family-centered approach, this company seems to have a we-are-the-experts approach, which is disheartening given the amount of challenges that families who have children with disabilities already face. Likewise, inappropriate comments and meetings are made about staff and staff can be demoted from positions on a whim. It was appalling how these demotions were handled and no company with an actual HR department would allows things to happen in such a manner. Staff at this company are only promoted on if they are "in" with upper management, not based on their skill and I can guarantee that anyone who has posted a positive review about this company falls into that category. Basically, if you fall into the right social circle you will be promoted. You will not be promoted if you ever have a different or new idea or different opinion or idea. I was also disturbed by the lack of respect for other disciplines and saw a lot of unethical practices. For example, children are recommended to have the same amount of services (40 hours) no matter what the severity level of their disability, and parents are discourage from pursuing other types of therapy that may in fact be beneficial because they are told that 1. ABA is the most qualified discipline to address ALL areas of developmental and 2. Bierman can offer speech/OT in house. Unfortunately, having speech/OT is only to get more paying customers through the door as Speech and OT are not valued as related services professionals and given little to no support. The benefits here are TERRIBLE. It was the worst health insurance plan I've had a any company and I ended up with huge medical bills for routine tests. Hourly staff are also not compensated for all of the hours that they work. (Staff are often pressured to "volunteer" for events where they are watching clients or helping to set up the centers. I don't even believe this is legal for hourly employees) I also found it troubling that despite the fact that this company essentially operates as center-based care, they do not seem to follow regulations from DPH or MA Dept of EEC. For example, children are there 40 hours a week but are not provided with unstructured recess or outside time (an EEC requirement) and health code around food preparation, fist aid, and toileting was not followed by DPH requirements. Bottom line: the turnover here is terrible for a reason. The only people who stay and would post a positive review are the staff in middle and upper management.
