I inherited a large staff of people who were not adequately/consistently trained to perform their job responsibilities. This resulted in my energy during my onboarding/first few months uncovering issues that hadn’t been addressed with staff, having to manage multiple PIPs, and hiring/onboarding at least 3 staff. After having a second program added to my role (which I thought was manageable prior to uncovering staffing challenges), a staff member from a different program on a PIP was added to my team, and was given little room to succeed. My role in particular resulted in me being on call 24/7 because management didn’t trust my staff.

- Frequently understaffed, however this is an issue working with at-risk youth and is not unique to Bill Wilson - Made close to minimum wage while working with some of the hardest communities. Not unique to Bill Wilson either as this is also inherent to working with a non-profit. This type of work comes from the heart, not because it pays well.
